Excellent - though there can be few more unlikely Touring cars/ saloon racers than Tony Lanfanchi's Moskvich..

Great days... when they ran a class system.

Was that the period when they ran a cost based class structure and the Moskvich had about a 50% capacity advantage over anything else it would have been racing against?

I seem to remember that it was based on engine capacity...
Class A was the for big bangers down to about E for the lower capacity.
But each class had its own individual points... so a successful driver in the lower classes could win the overall Championship.
( Half points if less than six cars started in the class... I think)

Definitely run on a capacity basis. I don’t recall costing ever being a factor back then and I saw my first race in 1966.

It mentions the Production cars series... wasn’t this just for ‘standard’ cars as opposed to the full fat Touring cars.
Still, that was a great series too... lots of variety.
( But, I still didn’t know that price was a factorsmilethumbup

A bit off piste I know...
I was watching an old ‘Tipping point’ on W. getmecoat

Question: Jason Plato is a Champion in which sport.
A: Motor Racing
B: Horse Racing
C: BMX Racing.

Of course the answer was ‘C’... maybe that’s one of JP’s hidden talents.

It's worth subscribing to the Ginetta youtube channel. They live stream races that are not part of the BTCC package.

Phew! I was beginning to wonder if I’d imagined that! :-)

It seems like a very Tony Lanfranchi story, he always seemed to me to be one of those guys with an eye for an angle and a gleefully ruthless willingness to exploit it when he found one…

Along with Gerry Marshall... great characters.

Weird tv schedule today. I always record the whole meeting then skip to the bits I want. If I hadn’t noticed the regular showing was interrupted by the showing of the film Twins. I’d have missed the second BTCC race. Fortunately it’s being shown live on ITV. Seems a very bizarre move by ITV though

It annoys me that they can't just show it all on ITV in HD rather than jumping it between ITV and ITV4
