Barry Sheene used to race in the touring car Championship.
The old joke was...that he had trouble getting his knee down on the left handers.
( There was a Cartoon depicting that too)

Valentino Rossi: Very quick in a car... but not sure if he’s actually competed in a race?
( I think that is part of his future plans... could be interesting)
We're naming famous motorsport personalities that have raced now? scratchchin

Back in the 70's we had the Radio 1 Production Saloon Car Championship. Several "celebs" were involved including DJ's Noel Edmonds and Mike Smith and I remember rock drummer, Cozy Powell was a decent peddler of a Mazda, well before his untimely fatal crash on the M4. .

Luc Alphand the French downhill skier (Olympic Gold Medallist I believe) was quick in the Porsche Supercup, supporting GP's in the 90's I think.

Also British downhill skier Davina Galica and champion showjumper Anne Moore teamed up in early Sports 2000 days with KellyGirl sponsorship, before Anne left after a few races saying she "couldn't spare the time..... Davina went on to become the only woman, to date, to win an F1 race (Aurora AFX Championship) I believe.

Back in those days "Celebrity Races" with Escort Mexico's, MG Maestro's and the BMW County Championship (!) were very popular and kept the local bodywork repair shops very busy.......... Nowadays, I suppose "celebs" can't get insured.

Bit of a Google: Lella Lombardi scored 0.5pts in the 1975 F1 World Championship...
( Probably not really relevant... but I’ll throw it out there)

Which reminds me:

Slim Borgudd - was a session drummer, most notably with ABBA. In fact he was relatively talented and progressed through the usual ranks until a season of F1 with ATS in 1981 and a couple with Tyrrell in 1982 before Uncle Ken chucked him out when the money ran out. He continued sporadically after this and ended up racing trucks in the European series (thanks Wikipedia).

David Blakeley.... Made famous, as he was murdered by Ruth Ellis.
( Don’t think he was that good)

That reminds me, my father was racing a couple of Mk 1 Lotus Cortinas in the mid-80s, and was asked through the club to take one down to Goodwood one day as a company were filming something about Ruth Ellis, and wanted to get some footage of Cortinas moving as I believe that's what Blakeley may have raced... The old man couldn't be arsed with it, but a friend he competed with went - not sure if anything ever came of the filming!

Sorry... David BLAKELY;
Had a few good results, better than I was expecting... No Cortinas on here though.
(NB: He was murdered in ‘55... Lotus Cortina from ‘63) scratchchin
