Well it works like this:

No Marshals = No meeting

yes, I think even us 'drivers' can understand this concept.

however, this still does not answer the question I asked, what was the problem and hoe was this EERC's fault?

I am clearly missing something here??

what was/is the problem appart from the lack of marshals?

why is this EERC's fault?

No one is blaming EERC as far as I can see.

I received so much flack for promoting this event to our marshals, many of them will not marshal another EERC meeting ever again.

I must admit that when I read this, I took it as inference to lack of organisation on the EERCs part. Now, I'm only a humble (paying) spectator so I'm not involved in the goings-on of who sorts out marshalls for events and such like, so if I'm treading on toes, I apologise.

Am I right in thinking however that the EERC is 'just' the promoter, and the general running of the meeting would be the BRSCC / BARC or whoever?

Bloody politics...

What happened to Calum Lockie? His name was plastered all over the programme??

Calum was partnering Dave Mountain in the Juno SS3-V6 for the Britsports. Sadly an engine gremlin reared its head in qualifying and put pay to the weekend

I have always wondered why as drivers we are not asked to contribute a small amount of money to go towards the marshalls. Not a fortune maybe as little as £10 per race. Given the number of entrants it should generate £1-2k to be distributed evenly amongst the orange suited spectators. I am not for one minute suggesting that they marshall for money for it must help if you got 20 or 30 quid towards petrol and a pint when you got home by way of a thank you. As it is I think there is a raffle for a set of jump leads each meeting !

I make it a point of waving to, and thanking every marshall post on the cool down lap. It is a long day and whilst they are all clearly enthusiasts it takes a lot to stand there all day, they can`t just have a shuffle around the paddock when ever they feel like it.

I`d be interested on your views from the other side of the gravel trap.

Spoke to James tonight and mentioned about the marshalls for the 24hour race. He's feeding them and has appealed to the drivers and teams for raffle prizes . He says that , so far , people are being very generous so hopefully by the time of the race there will be some cracking rewards for the guys (and girls)
