I've never been to Anglesey either but that CSCC meeting that Andy97 mentioned above looks very interesting .
Google maps says 300+ miles and 5 + hours for me , in a very slow car .

Similar trip for me. Seems a good candidate for taking the Friday off work and taking a scenic route up through the middle of Wales.

I genuinely think it will be a fantastic meeting. The cars will vary from Elans, Marcos, MGs, TVRs and E-Types in the 60s race, through Porsches, BMWs, and TR7s in the Future Classic race; Modern hot hatches, M3s, Porsches (of front/mid/ rear engined types), Ginetta and Cosworths in the more modern races and probably a grid of Locaterfied type cars (which I am hoping to be in).

As I understand it, each grid will get a 30 min qualy session on the Saturday and somewhere along the way there has to be a night time famil session, too. And there will be a 40 min race every hour for 24 hours so each of 6 grids will get 4 races. The overall result for each grid will be an aggregate time for the 4 races for that group.

Anglesey is the best circuit in the country.
Fair enough - I enjoyed driving it, but preferred Oulton Park/Cadwell Park to drive, as they provided me with a greater challenge (bumps/cambers) and a greater sense of speed with proximity of 'furniture' to the side of the track. Anglesey is nice, maybe top 5 for me.

You gather from this the pain is real for me, rallycross is the sport that got me into racing as a kid on telly and i was thankful to be around in the halcyon days, it was doing fine until IMG came along and ripped it apart.
Likewise for me too. Rallycross was my no.1 choice motorsport all through the 70's, 80's and 90's and into new century........until IMG came along and destroyed it.

It is a damn shame yes, hopefully it completely dies soon, red Bull drop it entirely and it goes back to what it was a cool sport for amateurs based in its base, Europe. But I fear it might die completely sadly.

Only 3 tracks left in the UK, all in fairly remote locations, its pretty much died here in UK already.

Got a couple of things booked but so far they’re all at places I’ve already been to! The problem is I work alternate Saturdays and a lot of the good stuff falls on the weekends I’m in!

Doorslammers at Santa Pod in May which my one SP event a year since the prices went up post Covid.

Rally Day at Castle Combe in July

Quick60 (a sprint event) at Mallory in August.
Decided not to bother with Quick60 because it clashes with a CTCRC meeting at Croft which includes the SuperTouring class, plus I’ve been to Mallory but not Croft. Fortunately I hadn’t booked the ticket.

I really hope it’s worth the 7 hour round trip!

Another event on the list for the year, even though I’ve been already. Britcar + CTCRC at Silverstone this weekend. £17!

I’ve given up on the idea of Anglesey. I’ve emailed them 3 times asking if they have any spectator friendly events this year as there’s nothing on their website at all. Not a peep.

Also booked the BTCC at Knockhill for the day after I’m at Croft. That’s going to be a rough weekend!

What do you mean by spectator friendly, can you expand on what you are looking for. I may be able to help.

Well, most of the stuff listed on their website is track days and there’s no information about whether any old random guy can show up and watch, so I emailed them asking. It’s a long way to go to be turned away at the gate.

No idea about track days and spectating, but every race meeting will be open to spectators.

Hi, if you just click on the image it'll bring up the other details.
Believe it's a temporary solution as they're re-doing their website or something, but it's all there. couple of good 750MC events, CSCC, BARC too

Getting old and grumpy about the cost of Club meetings; MSV club events are now £15 admission in advance so I guess £17 on the gate. This is now not value for money in my opinion it should be a fiver and you'd get more folk through the gate who then may buy a programme, T-shirt, Burger and a pint. It also offers the opportunity to promote future headline meetings and activity days they might even find future competitors or Marshalls. I also think MSUK licence holders should get free admission to these meetings.

A fiver ? So we are somehow also transported back to 1979 and drive to circuits in Cortinas ? Could catch on ...

But seriously between ten and twenty quid is fine I think . Lowering it would not increase crowd numbers - if you want to do that just put on a car show in the paddock for JDM stuff and they will turn up by the hundred . And some of us will moan as much as we do when the BTCC hordes make their annual visit and all we regulars mumble and moan about the gazebos and the litter.

Or pay Guy Martin (or other sleb ) to turn up - that gets them through the gate .No thanks , I'm of the 'right crowd and no crowding ' Brooklands school ...

I think that you are being exceptionally unrealistic in arguing that entrance fees should be a fiver for a club meeting, especially when you think of the improvements to the MSV circuits infrastructure over the last 10 years.
It costs £4-5 for a pint, £10-15 to go to the cinema, £30 to go to a Championship football game and £15 for non-league football.

Club level motorsport is just not popular for spectators and dropping the price to a £5 will have no impact on the gate at all, but like in the rest of life, the costs of running the venues is going up.

Absolutely! We went to a few of the Renault World Series events at Donnington and as it was free entry all the world's dross and their brats turned up. Never before have so many stinking burgers been consumed by so many overweight idiots...

More detailed analysis is required when it comes to spectator numbers at club events.
Fundamentally, the circuit gets it money from the hire fees, it doesn't then need to promote the event beyond a sign at the gate saying when the next event is, or perhaps an update on its website.

There are clearly some noise, nuisance laws that wouldn't be improved if 10000 spectators turned up every weekend.

However the biggest issue is that the organising club doesn't get to keep gate receipts should it even bother to promote its event. IMHO, if say the 750MC promoted the event effectively, FB, Twitter, local rag, etc etc, it's not unreasonable to expect 1000 people to turn up for a day out, maybe more if there are other activities like a band, car show, summer BBQ etc. Now if people were paying £20 a go, and let's say 50% of the speccies were paying adults then that's 10k revenue into the 750MC coffers.

That could be used to offset the hire of the circuit, lower entry fees, provide prize money and a whole load of other things to assist club racing.

But there is no point for them to do that as the circuit keeps the gate receipts.

I am therefore not convinced that club racing couldn't be popular with spectators, it just isn't promoted.
