It's no better or worse than BTCC, and better than almost everything else except IndyCar or F1 and there's no way the FIA is going to allow it match (or even exceed) F1.

Honestly, I prefer its slightly amateurish feel to the massively overdone chat show that is an F1 build up these days.
They really had nothing to say, three advert breaks in 15 minutes NP more interest in his hair than talking, the woman is clueless

But the race is entertaining, Sam Bird will be really popular with the Jaguar team

The mirror coming off and getting wedged behind the steering wheel is a new one!

If the car has no energy left how is it managing the cool down lap? Suspect telemetry?

Think, like EVs, 0% doesn't equal nothing left in the battery - there's a buffer left to avoid destroying the battery by completely draining it.

0% = lowest level of useable energy before it severely limits power drain, so can potter around at very low power for a bit.

It’s not the actual battery level, but controlled with electronics. When it gets to ‘zero’, the car will go into a ‘limp mode’ rendering it uncompetitive but safe.

There’s a lot more information and control on the drivers’ dash, which is why they get blurred out on the TV pictures - a competitor watching, could learn a lot about another driver’s strategy from the screen.

Jack Nicholls sacked as Formula E commentator for 'inappropriate behaviour', there's a race this weekend in Jakarta. https://www.planetf1.com/news/jack-nicholls-f1-sac...

Blimey, Planet F1 is a bit behind the times. This was reported on the 25th elsewhere.

All change at FE then. Its only recently the tall fella that insisted on shaking every drivers hand left. Now the commentator goes.
the modern world is harsh. Tomorrow someone will be praising james hunt for spending most of the f1 weekend fondling groupies.

A few clips of previous races with Jack Nicholls commentary in the intro and build up, but no mention of him. Race commentary with Alex Jacques and Karun Chandhok, and they'll be watching it from the F1 commentary box in Spain.

Well that was a big smash in Rome. Bird is a lucky boy with where the Maserati hit him.

Very nasty. A high-speed completely blind corner is not a great piece of circuit design. Thankfully all the drivers are okay.

I turned off just before the restart was happening , yet another temporary circuit not wide enough causing this , IMO . and the pundits also maybe blamed Bird's crash on running over a manhole .
You don't get those at a circuit .
I keep trying to give Formula E a chance and it always fails to deliver .
6 cars eliminated with heavy damage to most if not all .

Agree with the circuit being to blame for the crash, however street circuits per se aren't the issue (c.f Monaco). If you want to see how bad a circuit can be take a look at the Indycar at Toronto this weekend!

Agree that some of these street circuits are too unforgiving, but the huge crash aside, I actually thought it was pretty good racing.

I've seen plenty of far worse street circuits and a few worse permanent courses. At the end of the day the only way to make racing totally safe is to stop doing it.
