No new aero tweaks for the Mustang's this weekend so it's looking like a very long Camaro one make race at the front.
Reports are saying Ford have almost had enough because of the lack of parity. They’ve only approved factory backing until the end of the 2024 season and are supposedly reviewing their involvement in all race series.Jader1973 said:

That was possibly the most boring Bathurst I’ve watched in the 13 years I’ve been watching it.
Pleased for SVG though.
It was rather dull wasn’t it?Pleased for SVG though.
However it was a great result for SVG and Stanaway.
The points system needs a do over to simplify it, it’s a complete mess. SVG only gained 24 points for his win in the biggest, longest race of the year. Madness.
Viewing numbers were well down.

As a Holden fan, I haven’t watched any races this year except Bathurst - the rest are pretty much not on free TV. I’ll also watch Adelaide because it is SVG’s last race.
I won’t support GM so next year, with SVG gone, I think I’ll only watch Bathurst. It will become a bit like F1 for me - just watch for the racing without caring who wins.

The whole series is a mess. When SVG leaves at the end of the year, they’ve got zero marque names, they have far too many old names clinging on such as Courtney, Davison and Frosty, they need fresh, young talent.

The fall from grace the series has suffered over the last couple of years is startling. Until very recently, it was easily the best touring car/ tin top category in the world (with world beating broadcasting to match), but the introduction of the Gen.3 cars has been nothing but a disaster. The points system needs a do over to simplify it, it’s a complete mess. Bathurst was a bore, but we've been historically lucky with well timed (from the viewers perspective) safety car periods adding end of race drama.
Even the broadcast this past weekend was lacklustre. I'm not sure how to put my finger on it, but there just seemed a lack of enthusiasm from the presenters. One thing that stood out as missing from the coverage was usually at the end of the race, Larko will be in scrutineering, salivating over the wining car.
I was planning on staying up to watch the 1000, but after watching the highlights I am glad I didn't.
On the whole I am still enjoying the season so far but the lack or 'parity' between the cars is a bit annoying. Hopefully they can sort this out in the remainder of the season for a better 2024.
The category does seem to be going through a bit of a transition at the minute, not only cars but drivers too. Plenty of driver changes already confirmed for next year.
On a side note, I have been watching the 'Inside Line' series on YouTube from a few years back. Good insight into the teams they have followed (Erebus, 888 and WAU). Worth a watch!

I hate these new cars. They still look poor (to my eye) and haven't done anything for the racing. And they've added some annoying unreliability which nobody wants to see - and there's no excuse for when they're all essentially the same car.
Bleh.
They've made the racing worse. And the tyres don't work with the Gen.3 cars (and they're not making changes for '24). There is a very, very small setup window for the cars, and they all go out on the same pressures, which results in them essentially playing follow the leader trying to conserve.Bleh.
Rumour today that Kostecki has fallen out with Barry Ryan (is anyone shocked at Barry falling out with someone?) and he's leaving Erebus.
Considering he convincingly won the drivers title and they won the team title for the first time, something major must have happened for him to walk away and possibly sit out the season as he's still under contract.

Yeah, big shock. I have a feeling he’ll be off the the US instead.Considering he convincingly won the drivers title and they won the team title for the first time, something major must have happened for him to walk away and possibly sit out the season as he's still under contract.

There always seems to be one common denominator when drivers leave ErebusConsidering he convincingly won the drivers title and they won the team title for the first time, something major must have happened for him to walk away and possibly sit out the season as he's still under contract.
