MotoGP Saturday ealry bird tix are £50 inc parking.....I dont think thats excessive for the spectacle.....
Probably not, but it’s more than a 3 day BSB ticket at a much better viewing track, and only got so much money to go round Understand your valid point tho.

Well yes, but its hardly apples with apples is it ?
Understand your valid point tho.
If I was a sophisticated enough viewer I might be able to appreciate the higher skill level, but I’ll get more enjoyment from 3 days of BSB at Oulton or Cadwell than a day at the GP, Silverstone do seem to be reacting to the poor crowds for MotoGP though Understand your valid point tho.
I certainly did not see an option to allow tickets to be sent via email, but I was not looking for it, presuming that was where they would be naturally sent. I was merely annoyed as I bought them about an hour begore leaving so had to then download an app, and I often do not want to take a phone, just something to lose
I think they are certainly reacting to the lack of Motogp and hopefully Classic sales last year, the classic seems to have been slightly rebranded too.
This is good news, but perhaps also helped by F1 probably making them buckets of profit.
But for someone who bashes the place, they are investing, kart track, about time, hotel... meh rich kids only, escapade, millionaires only, kart, museum, I can see museum closing without funding within 10 years, they have already got in trouble with late tax payments etc, so be interesting to see how that goes

Presumably for everything other than F1 anyone who doesn’t want to download the app can just buy a ticket on the gate?
The club meet I went to and the one the following week I was interested in going to, tickets were not available to buy on the gate, you had to buy in advance, even if that only meant the morning you were going.LukeBrown66 said:
This is my point..
I do think this is now the Only way you can attend an event there.
Hence raising the point in the first place
No it isn't, if you had actually looked at Silverstone site you can buy tickets via the website. You are right in that it know appears you can't buy tickets on the gate.I do think this is now the Only way you can attend an event there.

OK, my point simply being for others, can you still have a barcode sent to an email address, of course you can buy tickets on the site, it is the only real sales portal, but I was not sure if the only way now you can show that purchase isvia the app, but can you use the email barcode aswell

Luke that is not what your first post on this said "You HAVE to download a bloody app now for e-tickets to Dumperstone."

Oh dear
I am asking about it now, I do not know if you can have the email ticket barcode thing still, if so great, but it did not seem to be an option on Friday, I was just sent an email with no code telling me to go get the app, if you can still do it otherwise, fair enough
Why did you go to silverstone ?I am asking about it now, I do not know if you can have the email ticket barcode thing still, if so great, but it did not seem to be an option on Friday, I was just sent an email with no code telling me to go get the app, if you can still do it otherwise, fair enough
You've literally spent the last year slagging it off over multiple threads then you end up going !
Perhaps you need to understand what a troll is before throwing big words around you do not fully understand.
it is a headline nothing more, no I do not like the place that much, but I still go there occasionally as it is nearby and I do not have the money to go traipsing all over the place to watch stuff. so I am stuck with it for a while.
Also there is a point, a lot of people would not necessarily know about this new fad, as we have now found out, it might be possible to buy tickets without the app, but that was very clearly not the way my purchase went, I bought them, the email came and it had nothing on there whatsoever but a message to download the app.
So if that happens to hundreds of other people, reading this, while annoying to some like you, it might make them aware and avoid the minor issue I had the morning of the event trying to download something in a bloody car park or a few minutes before you were planning to leave or pick someone up for instance.
it might be wrapped up in a bit of vitriol yes, but the message is sound, so maybe read that, stop calling people names you don't understand, and move on.

In related news, I have just booked some tickets for the British GT round at Silverstone in May and just got the usual e-ticket PDF file with QR codes. You have to manually download it as the confirmation email just tells you to go to your account on the website.
No Mention of any apps etc.

Might be different processes for each event depending on expected crowds etc.
(Or perhaps the 'app' was a disaster and they've binned it off already).
Marketing departments absolutely love apps, and customers generally hate them. The apps generate massive amounts of data analytics, far beyond what can be achieved by any other method*. (Or perhaps the 'app' was a disaster and they've binned it off already).
The trick is to get the customers immediately feeding back in obvious ways, such as turning up with a dumb phone and a printout of the email receipt for the ticket purchase, or a phone with the app installed but no data connection.
* stuff like a snail trail of each customer’s “experience” of the event, where they went and what they watched, which can be mass-analysed to decide which attractions attracted the most people, and plan accordingly for the next event. Promotors love it, but customers think it’s a gross invasion of privacy.
