Quite simply - is there one?

With the news reported on Dailysportscar.com that LNT are moving away from TVR for 2006, what does the future hold?

Yet again it seems another great team has decided to look elsewhere due to ongoing problems.

Are there ANY factory plans for racing involvement, I somehow doubt it?

A sad day. :(

I wondered that to, flicking through the autosport this morning LNT are moving to Panoz, it does mention a bit for a lemans entry in 06 but no mention of TVR racing, what the le mans bid would be in or what will happen to the tvrs if they dont race them. Doesnt Lnt own most of the t400's ?

They do indeed, four of the seven if I recall.

Only one of the remaining three is still active witn Peninsula.

Two years with the TVRs failed to realise a full association with the (now) Russian-owned company, so Tomlinson’s team has looked elsewhere, and found a partner that should lead to long-term fulfilment.

Mrs Hui
CDL was Bert Taylor's team, who then went in with Gareth Evans to become Chamberlain-Synergy etc

So the last one has given up the struggle. It'll be great to have a pair of Panoz racing in Europe next year and I'm sure Muggo will make very good use of them.

There's little doubt that a team can't hope to remain competitive in the long term when forced to shoulder all the development and costs after the factory ceases all involvement in racing.

LNT gave it a damn good go though.

They certainly did, as have others before.

Why is it so painful to be a TVR follower at times when the company does itself no favours?

Why do we stick with them?!

Come, join us on the dark side:

Mind you, we've still got our TVR in the workshop after we couldn't sell it over the winter. We could put a roadcar engine in it and do a little Britcar, perhaps.

unless the factory ever show to support big teams with big ambitions(LNT) then no one will want to carry on with them, which is a real shame because the TVR's were really getting quick.

however.... those panoz's do sound mighty good and have already won in one of the toughest arenas (ALMS) so good luck to LNT and lets see if they can give the T400R a big farewell in germany

I reckon Britcar is about the only realistic Home for the T400's surley they will get kicked out of GT's soon due to there only being 1 road car. ( oh and them not being a fezza or a porker

whats the going rate for a T400 with no home

How much have you got? Let's talk...

It's like any car that's getting long in the tooth - they fade into obscurity eventually. I still think ours would make a great car for a team that's dipping its toe into GT racing: the chassis is pretty good and very strong and reliable with regard to things like wheel bearings etc, the Hollinger box never gave us any trouble at all and the car is very easy to drive - far, far nicer than an old Tuscan Challenge car.

The only small question mark is over the engine, but then ours only ever went bang very early in their lives - if you made it through the first hour of a test you knew it'd run for a good third of a season before needing a rebuild of any sort. About 30 hours, from memory, which is roughly the life of a Porsche engine between trips to Weissach.

The way Britcar is structured the car would be ideal when run with a roadcar engine. Rollcentre are running a roadcar engine in their Mosler at the Silverstone 24 hours, so that sets a precedent. The guys in Blackpool will carry on making parts for the existing T400Rs, so there's no problem on the spares side either.

It just needs someone to take the plunge...

There are still some guys left in Blackpool that know about the T400Rs; that is very different from what Laurence Tomlinson is saying!

Maybe, but who? Cushty etc are at Rollcentre, Chris Runciman (who designed the chassis/suspension) left a while ago and racing, as a department, no longer exists. I know Moss was helping Runciman, but I don't know what he's up to now either - apart from some mischief, no doubt.

Edit: To clarify, I mean on the design/engineering side of things - I know there are plenty of chaps very well qualified to make the existing bits.

Nah, the dark side with the engine in the middle - we were tempted by the forbidden fruit offered by Mr Short...

Sell the Cerbera, sell a kidney, sell some of your house, find £99,950 and take it to Racing Green. A nice man will remove it from your sticky paw and hand you the keys to a lovely Mosler MT900S. Nice. Go on - it even has gull-wing doors.

Is my pic working okay from earlier?

Hmm let me see.

Not selling the Cerbera, only have one kidney TO sell, so not such a good idea , sold some of my
house already, oh and my wife and my 10 year old daughter would both throw the mother of eppy fits if
I bought a sports car with only two seats!

So, 911 996 Turbo it is then.

However, the Mosler is a lovely looking car and I'd love to test one one day.
