Jenson Button in this race
Kiwi racer from Aussi V8’s Van Ginsberg qualified on pole and it’s his first go in a Nascsr very very impressive.

Is it live on tv anywhere ?

Shane van Gisbergen? I imagine his street track experience in Supercars has came in handy.

He's a bit of a phenom, he's like a Kiwi version of Ash Sutton.

Live on Viaplay. Doesn't seem like much is happening as it's pouring with rain and they don't race in rain in the USA.

That’s shame someone needs to sell them a consignment of rain tyres! It’s not an oval the rain should not cause a problem .

The race in the rain now in road courses an have wipers on the windshields.

The feeder series Xfinity race was red flagged because of lightening and rain flooding the track.

SVG is so impressive.

To come straight over from Aussie supercars and he's keeping the front two very honest.

Certainly is.
Listening to his in car the car control is just pure precision great to watch/hear the brake and throttle inputs.

The more involvement from different parts of the world, the better.

Somehow SVG got shuffled down to around 18th during one of the safety car periods.

Watching the live timings and onboards he's carving his way through the field and is currently the fastest on track. Shame that the yellow has been thrown again as he was making very good progress.

Love the physics, suspensions load up on the turns, wet surfaces, uneven surfaces. A bit of eye candy with those licks of flame.

An unbelievable achievement for SVG but what does that say about the depth of talent in NASCAR if a complete rookie comes in and wins first go?

I wonder if he’ll want to make the switch as he’s not that happy with the current gen of Supercars.

To be fair isn't the majority of the calendar ovals? Completely different discipline to street racing.

Stunning drive though, made the rest look like amateurs

True, I’m sure the street element was a good equaliser but to have that sort of control and ability is pretty awesome. I’d be praying he doesn’t make the switch haha if I were a fellow driver.

Apparently the first time in 60 years that someone has won on their Nascar debut. Hell of a drive!

SVG ‘played’ this race to a tee.You could see it unfolding, he does this pretty much all the time here in the V8 SC series. The Yanks we’re never going to be a match for him, even Button was mediocre.SVG can literally drive anything. He generally also is one of the very last to pit for tyres, which in itself gives him a massive advantage with tyres. My personal op is that he will leave T8 at the end of this year & try NASCAR.He has old ‘sparring’ partner Scott McLaughlin who now drives in the Indy series. He won 3 straight V8 SC series in the DJR Shell team in the Mustang, another ‘gun’ driver. Both Kiwis & also very good mates. These new Gen NASCAR cars are very close to our new Gen3 cars.

Very impressive but he was the only driver in the field with experience of driving a car like that on a street circuit. Ovals will be a different matter. Mind you Scotty adapted to them pretty quickly. Makes sense why he only signed a 1 year contract with 888 now. NASCAR bound in 2025 for sure.
