Best place to take a 7 year old for their motorsport event?
Discussion
BTCC is always fun - go to the last event of the year as there is always more merch stuff and freebies for the kids to collect. Brands Hatch 8 October. Brands is a better spectate than Silverstone too. And at 7 years old, stand at the top of Druids where you can see the track and your kids can roll down the grassy embankment - like mine did! They got free dunlop hats, a hot dog and ice cream, and still think it was a great day out but didnt see more than 2 laps!
Big Van banger racing is like caravans - quite a spectacle. Hednesford Hills in Cannock, regular event. -not a million miles from you.
For "real" racing, try Olivers Mount in Scarborough for the bikes. Something cheap/different and the track goes up and down a mountain which is cool. And when they've done, you can drive the circuit too! And Scarborough is fun with a beach and amusements and stuff so make a weekend of it.

If you live in Leicester than Mallory Park or Donington Park for a clubbie are a no brainer really.
Not too far away if the child gets bored or cold/ wet etc.
Donington has a decent cafe if you need a sit down and a burger and coke, too, and plenty of loos etc. and under 13s get in free. Not sure about Mallory but wouldn’t be surprised if similar pricing.
You will be able to get close to the cars in the paddock at a club meeting.
One thing not mentioned is going to a rally - not that many in the midlands, sadly, but in December there will be a rally at Donington Park around about the first weekend of December. You should be able to get reasonably close to the action, and they usually use some of the gravel sections on the infield. I will hope to be competing in a yellow Mk2 Escort if your son wants to try the seat for a photo!
If you are prepared to travel a bit further afield then there is also a rally at Oulton Park in Cheshire on the first weekend of November. Again decent facilities and a cafe, you can get close to the action and there’s a water splash which is always good fun. In the evening they celebrate Bonfire Night/ Fireworks for something a bit different on top. Again, I hope to be competing in this event.
Hope your lad enjoys whatever you try.

What about a long weekend: 22-24 Sept
Set off Friday Morning - If you're Harry Potter fans, stop in at Hogsmead Station its only 20 mins out of your way.
Arr Filey mid afternoon - Trackrod Rally : look round the pits then grab some of the best fish n chips you'll ever taste, watch the ceremonial start (£24 adult pass, under 16 free) then off to Dalby to catch some night rallying. Ends 930pm and off to Scarborough for your Premier Inn (£120 for 2 nights). "can we really stay up late dad?!" "yes son, night rallying is awesome". Other hotels/B&Bs are available.
Saturday morning leisurely brekky in the beefeater (kids eat free) then do Cropton Forest (youve already paid in your weekend pass), then after lunch either have a look at the steam trains in Pickering, or go back Scarborough and do some beach/amusements/soft play stuff the kids like.
Sunday, another full English (kids eat free) and a walk along the beach, up over the hill to Olivers Mount and watch some bikes. After lunch, back to Scarbados for a bit then drive back not too late cos school tomorrow.
Kids love it as a massive action packed experience - not just standing at Druids trying to see the zoomy cars half a mile away...

I took my kids there last year for a long weekend and they loved it. The Sands in North Bay is great.Set off Friday Morning - If you're Harry Potter fans, stop in at Hogsmead Station its only 20 mins out of your way.
