A1 Grand Prix Brands Hatch 25th September
Discussion
I have to agree 100% with all of the above....
A great 2 days racing and all for £50 including a seat in the Paddock Hill stand on Sunday.
It was excellent to be able to walk the GP loop on Saturday, get up close to the track and take some photos without the chain link fencing - once I've sorted through the 300 or so I took I'll try and post some here.
Whole package was superb (a great mix of single seaters, GT's, Caterhams etc) particularly as Saturday was race day for all those apart from the A1 cars. I also thought that the A1 qualifying format was spot on - Bernie take note!
The A1 cars looked and sounded great, my only concern was the lack of racing in the sprint race. I don't like tinkering with rules mid season to stop the best winning but agree that Mr Piquet might need some success ballast - he was awesome! But as for the US's Scott Speed being the next big thing for Red Bull Racing.....mmmm
I'll be back next year for sure.

Hi
Interesting to read all the positive comments on the A1 event
I wasn't there (should of been racing a GT3 on the GT250 race) so watched on Sky
The Sky coverage was appalling !
I know Georgie really well - great looking girl, but not a motorsport presenter, mind you she's on a par with Jim Rosental !
Ben Edwards and John Watson sounded like the were reading off a script - Ben Edwards is an excellent motorsport commentator, but I wonder if they were limited to what the could actually say. Everything was like, "these cars are amazing" "so much overtaking" "equal cars" . Which from my seat was totally rubbish.
It's obvious that the cars weren't equal in anyway !
There's no possible way the Scott Speed and Vestappen were that slow. After the initial laps, positions stayed pretty static and it seemed pretty impossible to overtake even with the "boost" button.
Personally I think the issue is that with country teams , if your country ain't doing well, then your going to loss interest. It's not like your going to start supporting Lebanon (incidently had to give him a few lessons and believe me i expect that at least half of pistonheads drivers could out pace him)
Overall though the A1 event looked good - just the racing disappointed me.

I would hope that motorsport fans have a few more brain cells than that and would watch to enjoy the action even without their country being in the top five.
but it's not how motorsport works or has worked
maybe i'm totally wrong - but i was more interested to jos the boss flying up the grid (or not) than how robbie kerr was doing to be honest.
I guess the big test will be the next few rounds and if it ever gets to the USA and if the cars become more equal
