What about Donnington?

Well the original post was about Silverstone...

As for Donington i'd love to see the likes of the Britcar 24 hours there, and the Grand Prix, but if that happened they'd have to bring it up to current FIA standards and the prices would go up as fast as the fences.

The beauty of Donington is that if you pick the right spot you can see almost all of the circuit...and it's a damn sight closer to me than Silverstone

For anyone lamenting the 'demise' of BGT, try Britcar in '06. It will be a proper series next season as opposed to a group of stand-alone races and should therefore attract more regulars and even stronger grids than this season. With Dunlop backing too, this could potentially be the new BGT...

Have you seen the Britcar '06 calender? The long-distance element seems to be going, replaced by 2x1hr BGT-style races at a number of venues. That's a shame, as I thought Britcar's appeal to competitors was that the races were longer.

Printed off the '06 calendar and can't see any mention of race durations, other than Spa, Zolder, the 24 hours and the Winter Series. Am I missing something?

Would be a shame if they are reduced to 'sprint' races. Surely dilutes the idea of Britcar being an endurance race series.

To my mind Silverstone in recent years has come closer to resembling Stalag 17 than a racing circuit. I've never seen so many pointless fences & barriers in a single place anywhere else.

I went to the GT/F3 round and hardly any of the stands were open, as was the case when I went to the Britcar meet earlier in the year. Does all that stuff ONLY get opened on Grand Prix weekends? What a fvcked up place it is. Very spectator unfriendly.

Give me Castle Combe, Donnington, Brands... well just about anywhere else really! They are all more pleasant places to watch racing IMHO.

[Hint to Silverstone : Remove the bloody fences and make your circuit pleasant to attend]

Too true... Its no better if your a compettitor... The place just doent make you feel comfortable or wanted. Its a real shame as it gets almost all of the circuit funding from the government that could be much better spent on facilities at the other more friendly circuits.. they even spent xx million on speeding up the building of the bypass ffs

Bypass! Maybe that's the intention so people can go faster driving past it.
