What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, BBC2, motoracing, Murray Walker and Mansell leading. Took me back years to when i was young, feel and single, then my kids came and jumped all over me!!!, never mindit was good while it lasted!!.

This series has such potential, and the drivers actually had characters and appeared to be enjoying themselves, bit of a shame Lammers held everyone up for so long, think Stuck, Warwick and De Ceseras would have livened up the lead!!.
Stuck and De Ceseras stood out as two men happy in their worlds!!.

Donnington gets my vote.

I agree with all the comments, certainly the feeling a bit old posts! 41 now, but was on the grid when Nigel won his first ever GP at Brands, he even signed a pound note for me....and you`ve guessed it, I sold it in error the following day.
I will be there if it comes to the UK, but maybe if there is a race in Europe say France/Germany/Spain or even SPA :-) a group from here should get together and go??
Any thoughts on this?

I'll be going to the UK round certainly.

I too was there at Brands when he won the European GP in 1985 - in fact any Motorsport Magazine owners who still have a copy of that month's magazine can see me applauding him as he drops down Paddock on his slowing down lap - I'm the one in the trendy (at the time) white ski-jacket and bleached jeans (oh the shame of it....)

I got his autograph on everything at the "Nigel's Day" celebration at Brands a couple of months later. Now, our Nigel's not a man to miss a marketing opportunity, as my shots of him endorsing a windsurfer in the pits show!

I've hero worshipped Nigel Mansell ever since seeing him beat his then team mate Nelson Piquet at the 87 silverstone GP. He was 20 seconds behind with 20 laps to go. He had the boost turned up so far on his williams turbo that the engine wouldn't have lasted another lap. True heroics! The crowd stormed the track afterwards and the atmosphere was incredible. They stormed it ever since whenever Nige won and I saw all his silverstone victories.

A lot of people have always said 'it's the car' when Mansell won. It's nice to know he really is that good on a level playing field!

I thought the race was superb and really hope the series takes off. I for one would make the effort to go and watch them race. The old characters make the new lot seem a bit bland to me.

I'm the same. Huge Mansell fan. Really enjoyed the race, I'm 'only' 30, and the comments on Mansell's kids are true, in the books etc I have they are all young, now looking grown up...although its good to see none of them have his eyebrows

I am a huge racing fan, but like many have witnessed F1 go a bit downhill, the WRC quite frankly be destroyed, but on Sunday my kids were sat down and forced to watch our Nige race. Its been a great year, I got to Brands for the A1 gp which was ace and have now seen the first GP masters, there is hope.

All we need now is a rally masters.......Based on identical grp B cars, 4 day events, all around the UK..hmmm.
