With the change of rules for British GT next year does anyone know how many cars can we expect to see competeing in each class? Who will be in the GT class next year, with TVR going GTO, are Lister, the Saleens and the 2 Ultimas returing. Who will be providing the competition for the Mosler and TVRs in GTO and how many Cup class cars will be competing?

right, as far as i know:
1 GNM saleen wll be entered (definate)
2 Ultima GTRs
1 lotus esprit-johnsons
1 lotus elise
1 TVR tuscan R (works)
2 Morgan Aero 8- one works car one privateer, i think one is in GT cup class and the other GT/GTO
1/2 Mosler MT900's- rollcentre

So, not much confirmed, im sure the CT cup class will have a huge grid, ive seen loads of F360 modena challenge cars for sale with full spares e.t.c for £80K or even less, and its a great start in GT racing for some teams/people

A lot has gone on since the announcement that Tuscan Challenge cars would compete. Should have more news at/after the Autosport show this week.

GNM haven't confirmed a Saleen for the full season and the Elise will contest selected rounds. Eclipse will be back with the Tuscan R. Plans for the Viper remain to be seen but Randolph contested the Daytona Finale in a GNM Saleen!

there will be several marcos' running nextyear too. tfm-gt i think will only be running one car instead of two like last year, they have cut thier losses and have sold one car.

The GNM Saleen is a definite no show.

ur jokin! i swear i heard somewhere like in autosport that there was going to be 'at least 1 salee in British GT's'.

-Oh just realised, it was in autosport, dont belive what you hear!

but that now means no Speed 12 no S7-R no strom, so none of the front running GT cars will continue, sad shame, i really hope to see a viper, especially the desperado racing/QM engineering one.

TFM did occasionaly run a SINGLE Marcos last year, but the cars were extremely slow and I don't recall them finishing often.

So no "GT" cars next season. Well the BRDC hasn't finalised the regs yet, so what do you expect.

RE: The Graham Nash Saleens

Since two have been announced for FIA GT next year, surely that leaves the 3rd for a possible BGT campaign?

Also, does anyone have any more news of who'll be competing in each class?

GNM have 4 Saleens - One is based permanently in the USA (and 2 Porsche 911 GT3s- Latest info is that they will run FIA and spanish GT though a limited Brit GT programme is possible - particularly with the longer races on the draft programme.

I've been compiling a running list of possible/ probable entries on the dsc forum but its very early days yet. With new class structure and race formats there will be a lot of people doing their sums right now.

Is it possible to post that list here or is it a dsc only thing?

Edited to add: 4 Saleens - Bloody Hell!! are they tring to get a monopoly on them or something! How many Saleens are out there in total?

Nope it's just a personal collection of probables based on conversations with some of those involved and some announcements

GT
1 Ultima (Colin Blower's Car)
1 Marcos LM600 TFM
2 Stealth B6 - run by Hugh Chamberlain

GTO
3 TVR Tuscan R (all privateers)
2 Mosler
1 Pilgrim (AC Cobra Clone)
1 Ultima - The Master Motorsport car
1 Corvette

Cup

1 TVR 350C (possibly 2)
1 Morgan Aero 8
1 Porsche 911
1 Corvette
1 Lotus Elise (limited programme)

There are various rumours of Porsche 911 and Ferrari 360 Cup cars around and others of GTO class 911s

The TVR factory announcement is imminent (and BTW B.S. if you're reading this we do know what the plan is!!)

Definite non-returnees include Eurotech and EMKA(FIA GT), and Veloqx (FIA and LM - they have just entered Sebring with 2 Prodrive 550s!)

I believe Marco Attard won't be back in the other 360 either.

The Marcos mantis guys may show but the burgeoning EE&RC is mopping up much of that field - Freddie Kinchin and Andrew Davies are already on their entry list with the Eclipse and Pilgrim cars up for sale.

The ex-Ohana car was sold last year and could emerge in either championship

The GTO Lotus was up for sale recently too - Shame, I always loved watching Mat and Robert drive the nuts off that thing. Fingers crossed they'll be back in something though.

BTW - and Ted tell me if this is out of order and I'll delete it - The dsc forum is on the free part of the site. I'll be the first to admit however that it's less than user-friendly - Ted hass done an infinitely better job than our (current) web guys

Hi Graham, It is good news to see Hugh Chamberlain back with the Stealth; but he is also connected with Morgan. Does Hugh have both options open.

Did you also get the JCW pictures?

Hi Graham,

We have purchased a 2001 996 GT3 Cup car to run in the cup class.

The car is going to have some mod's over the next month fuel tank, shocks engine and areo package etc. We considered loads of different cars but the GT3 Cup car being the safe competitive option and with a few mods we should pick up about 1.5 secs per lap over the standard cup cars.

2nd seat still up for grabs.

Cheers

Tony

I considered entering my Elise this year, but as the regs still are not avaliable and it's looking like unless something drastic happends, it will be totally un-competitive (vs. a GT3 Cup car) what's the point?

BRDC have really dropped the ball on this one.

Simon (S)

PS. probably going to join the EERC series with the Marcos’s!

The draft regs I saw at least made a stab at equalisation - the formula puts a maximum poewer to weight ratio for the Cup cars so I'd guess an Elise wouldn't be as outclassed as you might think.

Have you been in contact with the new Championship co-ordinator Belinda Edwards?
