Loved the flames from the Lambo and the loud report. Nearly caused a major accident though parking on the exit of Bridge. Did you see the Porkers go either side of it?

Yeah, a fantastic days racing, we were sat in the startline grandstand for a while when there were 3 or 4 Astons running virtually nose to tail, what an awesome noise. A few more GBR's in the programme would have been nice though.

Very good photos. Only spoilt by the automatic resizing here. Try originals around 700px across.

If you were not accreditated then it was a very dangerous and foolish thing to do. Not only for yourself but for others working in the pits too.

Which is invalid (probably) by gaining “elicit” entry to and area of danger, my standard life policy has specific exclusions and Motor racing is one of them so I have to ensure I’m covered…

Guys could you post links rather than the pictures so we don't all have to scroll through lots of pics??

As for blagging your way in the pit lane. It's not big and it's not clever. Your indemnity insurance will be invalid if your not validly signed on. I'm a pit marshal plus I work for a number of race clubs. I stood inside the bottom gate for part the GT's and made sure I didn't stand over the line. The guys in the lane have a tough enough time in endurance races without dealing with "tourists" as well.

There was nothing elicit about my entry I had a valid entry to the pits through a team. Im sorry if I upset the apple cart but as someone who has been trying for over 2 years to get a media pass (and having been a member of a race team in a previous life) I understand the risks never crossed the marked line on the pit lane and to be honest did my utmost to keep out of harms way. Im sorry if I have caused any upset but those of you who spoke to me on the day were all more than polite and helpful, including marshalls I might add. And not one of you stopped to notice I was missing a media armband.
Perahps in hindsight it was wrong but given the oppertunity, tell me that one of you would not have done the same? You all started out blessed with access did you?
Again sorry I didnt mean to start a bun fight.

Agreed, nice pics, Ray. Especially as you've only had your D50 for 5 minutes!

Anyhow, I really enjoyed the day (Sunday) that I spent there with my brother. The GT3 field was fantastic, as was Allan Simonsen's drive in the Ferrari 430. A shame Hector Lester couldn't quite hold off the Vipers at the end, although they did try and take themselves out at Becketts right at the end.

The main race; I'd forgotten just how loud the big GT cars were! Fantastic! Standing at the end of Hangar Straight was like standing there around 20 years ago with the Astons sounding like the V12 Silk Cut Jags and the Corvette being reminiscent of the Kouros Sauber Merc. Lovely!

Took a shedload of pics the best of which are linked below

Funny how things turn out isn't it.

Gruppe M running Fezzas and Team Modena running Astons. Whatever happened to patriotism?

A couple of things, firstly I committed the cardinal sin of posting whilst pi&&ed last night so apologies for being a bit harsh! Also to clarify that I wasn't working in the pit lane at the weekend, I was working elsewhere at the circuit.

If you stayed inside a garage and behind the line then there is no problem, if you're a team guest in a garage that's fine. A "team" pass though won't give you access to a live pit lane during a race.

There were very few pit marshals over the weekend, and their main job during the race will be to oversee the pitstops and to watch for any infringements, they will also be trying to deal with punters who wander their way into the pit lane and usually get quite a lot of abuse from people who are just trying it on (believe me it's not fun after three days....). I had a bloke at Spa who set up his folding chair in the middle of the pit lane at 2am and refused to move!

If you want to be a pro, behave like one, you won't find the established guys going where they shouldn't. They know that the easiest way to find youself without a media pass is to break the rules...

Anyway....back to the thread...

Its a Gillet Vertigo. It has an 4 litre Alfa Romeo engine developing 450bhp and weighs 1100kg. It is the only car running in the G2 class of the FIA-GT championship, which is for non-homologated cars.

More info here. The racing link might be most helpful.

Hope that helps.

Actually it only had a 3.6 for Silverstone (rustling sound of zipping up anorak) the 4 litre will be in the car next time out.
