So.....which is it for this sunday then?

Both promise a hell of a lot of racing, but, being in Basingstoke, Brands is only an hour and a bit away, whereas Donington is a good 2 hours at the least.

So.....which would you go for and why (as I'm not an avid supporter of any of the series on offer)?

Depends what you like watching. I'm probably going to Brands as it's 15 miles away from me plus I'd like to see the (admittedly depleted) Lotus team in action plis the F3 guys.

As I said, not really fussed which, but Brands offers diversity whilst Donington offers hours of solid racing.

Honest answer is that I’d do Donington on the Saturday for the experience and then Brands on Sunday for the racing and diversity.

Brands is tempting me, but I think I really want to go to Lydden Hill for Rally X on Monday. Might do both.

I'm thinking Donington, but if the weather looks like being like it was for silverstone last year I'll do brands as it's only half an hour away for me too.

why oh why did they schedule these for the same weekend, muppets.

I was going to be racing at Silverstone this weekend, but had huge crash at Paddock at Brands couple weeks back so car is not race worthy! So, looks like Donington Park for the LMES!!!!
Think I'd rather see the Le Mans racers especially as I missed 'Le Mans' again this year! Don't think there is any better racing on this bank holiday! , if you want to see some dogems/smashes then go to Silverstone

I have the day off tomorrow and was thinking about going down to Brands to watch Friday practice. Is it free to watch on Friday or do you have to pay?

if you havent see the Le Mans cars in action I would recommend Donnington for the LMES

my 1st year at Le Mans this year & although been to GT events (at Brands) before
didnt appreciate how much quicker & nosier the Le Mans p1 & p2 cars were, plus you get the added bouns of GT cars too.

IMO it will be worth the journey just to here the Coverettes, plus they are having a cracking battle with the Aston DB9's in this series at the mo

Nice dilema to have though

Donington all the way! Leave Sheffield straight after work, meet up with a mate in his S2000, quick hoon down the back roads to Donny and pitch up with Speedchills for 2 nights. So much racing to watch over the 2 days it gives you a chance to wander the entire circuit to view from every angle. If the weather turns it'll either be the museum for a quick gander or head straight for the bar.

Had to bribe my mate with a promise of helping decorate on Monday or I'd be off to Snetterton for the Kitcar show. Got a hankering for a Tiger/W'field machine for next year to get some trackdays under my belt. The Vette stays for Le Mans but I'd love a trackday car aswell!

Remember that the factory Corvette & Aston teams are in the ALMS instead, although there are other Astons & Corvettes running, thankfully!

Seconded.

The Gold Cup is a one off, awesome event. Some of the cars racing are truely magnificent. The sound, the smell..... cloud9

Worth the extra hour and a half drive past Donnington? You bet. thumbup

Why not bring your tent and kip on the Sunday night, as it runs into Monday too.

OR - Donnington on Sunday and Oulton on Monday ?
