Wasn't it Oliver Gavin?

Not nearly as funny as Nick Heidfeld hitting the safety car's open door at Brazil either last year or the one before, I forget.

By the way, I'm fed up of F1 and I am boycotting it this season. Try watching the new Caterham R400 series. In the first race at donnington today there were 7 or 8 leaders in the 1/2 hour race!!! Proper racing!

it wasnt a f3000 driver its an old ex F1 driver that drives the medical car, his name escaped me but somthing foreign...

the pace car tend to be driven by the up and comming guys..

the excuse was the wcu vibrating over the kerbs and buggering the traction control... the smart money from F1 admin said he just stuffed it...

Medical car crashed, Monaco 2000 (I think), Driven by Alex Ribeiro wasn't it? -If anyone can be bothered looking, Sid Watkins wrote about it in his last book.

I thought it was one of the best races i have seen in a long time. This season is really really impressing me.
Todays race was excellent, but I agree with others on here that the pace car was not required at the start - just let them drive, they are DRIVERS at the end of the day.

Alonso's off was brutal and was the only bad point to the race, hope he is OK.

I think the circuit bosses are in the shite though, why was Alonso going so quickly towards that debris? was the yellow flag not out in time? And the drainage at turn 3 was a balls up.

Still, it all made for an interesting race. Lets hope it stays this good

May I suggest MotoGP?

So instead of the F1 teams spending lots more money on new regulations, all we need for exciting racing is a sprinkler system for a couple of corners of the track.
For more excitement, have the sprinklers triggered by a random timer.

This one went in at a fair speed, judging by how dug in it is.

I think that Jordan were robbed. Why was the result taken at lap 53 and not lap 54?

The decision makers appear to have screwed up on this because:

53 laps completed is not 75% race distance completed (53.25 laps) therefore there should have been a restart.

Or:

The race was stopped on lap 55 when Alonso crashed therefore should have been declared at lap 54.

Also DC was unlucky in pitting when he did.

Agree, it was an great race when the pace car wasnt out. Loved the way Rubens and the DC slowed everyone down once the safety car pitted and then took off like a rocket

I also agree with others that there should have been a red flag as soon a MW crashed, there was no way cars could have got past all the mess without hitting something...... delayed reaction i think, must be the same guy who directs the tv coverage.

Got fed up with the number of replays of stuff that had just happened "out of camera". I thought the coverage was supposed to be live?

DC shouldnt really moan, as at the end of the day, its just racing. Personally I think KR would have won anyway as he had enough fuel to make the end of the race, and his tyres werent going off as quickly as most other cars.

Dont think the tyre ruling is bad. If anything it created a more level playing ground. At least this way, they are either using one type or another, and if they make the wrong choice they end up at the back of the race.

Roll on Europe.

Not so, I believe he was to make a stop in another couple of laps.

In fact - he was making a pit stop the lap before the stoppage which was why he wasn't in front!

Personally can't believe Alonso didn't seem to slow down before hitting Webber's wreckage.

They have yellow flags, yellow warning lights on the steering wheels and pit/car radio. As soon as the words "saftey car" as said on the radio he can slow right down without anyone overtaking him.

So either, he didn't see the flags (problem with the race organisers - who are pi$$ poor in Brazil at the best of times), lights didn't come on in the car (electronics problem - it was wet so they could have been effected, yeah right), or he wasn't given the call on the radio (radio failure or poor pit coordination).

I doubt it if the Brazlian race organisers even tried to stem the overflow of water through turn 3 which caused a lot of problems!!!!!

Raikkonen was not in front because he made a small mistake and let Fisichella through, not because he was in the pits.

Alonso had a drive through penalty for overtaking under waved flags earlier in the race. Was he paying attention prior to his crash?

That was DC wasn't it? If he hadn't pitted he'd have won.
I had to watch the highlights after being on the way back from donnington and hearing about the race from here!!

Thought Eddie J was robbed. Couldn't have anything to do with money could it.
The organisers want shooting for that farce with the water running over the track. If that was Silverstone there would be a public outcry.
And as for the marshalling... that breakdown truck on the outside of the bend where they were all falling off was just waiting to be a BIG accident.
Much preferred the MotoGP, especially the 125 & 250 races. Absolutely rivetting, bouncing off each other at 130mph....

Alonso talks about accident...

"It all went too quickly," he explained. "From the third corner onwards, I had seen the yellow flags and the sign 'SC' telling me that the safety car was coming out, but at that moment, there were yellow flags all around the circuit. I was careful, but I didn't expect there to be as much debris. I couldn't avoid a tyre in the middle of the track. Everything then happened very quickly. I remember hurtling towards the wall. The first impact was very hard.

So from the 3rd corner (which is the one near the pit exit where everyone was spinning off) he knew there was something major as all the yellows and "saftey Car" signs were out and he didn't slow down and neither was told by his pit crew about the wreckage across the track (which was after turn 11 just before the pit entrance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

As I mentioned before with the "SC" signs out you can crawl around the circuit without losing your place (if you get passed you will be allowed to repass behind the safety car).

A visit to Specsavers is probably in order for Alonso and the Renault pit crew then.
