New Pit wall At Combe
Discussion
It is one of the most vulnerable pit walls in the UK.
I'd rather be a driver than a pit guy at that circuit. This fence is long overdue.
Moving the pit lane up to the outer paddock on Avon Rise and increasing the run off at Camp could have been a solution too, but I guess this is easier.

As a pit marshal I can't count the times people have said similar things to me when they are in vunerable places. Usually until the first pit straight/startline shunt with debris coming down around their ears when the realise that what is says on the back of the ticket is true....

I've been at Combe when that pitlane/startline accident happened! (Only seen one. Bet you've seen loads!) And I was on-track at the time! Following.
Scary. Not enough run off on that corner AND its the most important to lap time as it opens onto the long "straight" (flat out for me through Folly).

There was a couple in the 2005 season that I remember. An F3 came for an unscheduled visit at one meeting and there was a rather nasty collision in a Ginetta race (could have been the same meeting I think) on the exit of Camp and there was bits of car all over the place by the pitwall.

IIRC ( I was filming at the first corner (or kink, the name of which escapes me for the moment) there were at least 2 if not 3 very close ones in the F3's alone!
They were all over the place that day.
I was in the same position a few years earlier when the Jones and Chambers Porsches did their best to get into the scruteniering bay via the earth banks at Camp as well.
Agreed. Having the pit wall on the outside of the track just after the exit of a very fast corner is not an especially good place.
My only comment on the photos is that there don't look to be many windows in the fence. Teams are not very good at sharing in my experience, they tend to grab a bit of wall and stay put.

I don't do Combe very often at all but I'm nervous of any circuit that doesn't have pit wall fencing (Pembrey, Snetterton, Spa...)
There are always people leaning on the pit wall with their backs to the traffic. That's until they've seen a biggie and then they
treat it all with a lot more respect!
It's not uncommon for debris to clear the fencing at Silverstone and still make it into the pit lane!

That said they'd have to try really hard at Snetterton

Spa does, or did have in 2005 and 2006 when I attended, before they knocked it down! Still, there are places I wouldn't want to sit at that circuit!

The Forumula one pit lane had fencing, the Endurance pit lane didn't*, the endurance pit lane was a pretty scary place to be at times! (fab but scary!)
(*as at the end of last season).
Annie King decided to alter the armco there in 2005 Which would have been behind the new wall now, and there was a 3 car 'incident' in the saloon cars at the end of 06, ended up at the pit exit, but could easily have happened a few metres sooner.
The pit's have to be where they are as Combe can't get planning to use the infield, Nimby's and stuff

Yeah, but what accidents have you seen there?
