I can remeber that shunt well it was flippen mental.

Its not the only place i also see Bobbies now has fencing too,too be honest Combes a very quick circuit and i can remember the days with the earth bank and then the tyre free barriers those were the days when if you had an off and hit something the damage was usually very severe.

After seeing the flying caterham nearly clear the armco at quarry[right in front of us]i knew it was the writing on the wall,no i don't like the fencing but it'll help keep me and my son safe and thank god for the fencing at folly when the wheel came off martin Shorts Mosler a few years ago as if it was not there the wheel would have ploughed right into us.
I feel the Pitwall can only help make combe a safer place to be.

Roll on the first meeting

How the hell are you supposed to put a pit board through those silly small window affairs ?

Better than getting your head taken off by flying bodywork & wheels though isn't it?

But not as much fun!!!!

To be fair though.....Ive not heard of an accident along the pit lane wall????

Lee can you comment?

I have seen a number! Once a 205 lost its sump in the braking area into camp and about four cars ended up in the tyres just short of the startline, and I saw a Pink Fiesta well and truly mashed, and a Formula Vee in half down there. I have had the occasional green and brown moment on the grass by over-doing it!

Gary Prebble in his mad turbo rover tomcat usually breaks a halfshaft coming out of camp, and it is even money if he hits the pitwall or spins into the infield!

Before the chicanes, the pitwall at Combe must have been the most hit in the country. I remember John Moon in a Calibra sliding past my toes on one occasion. Still a very dangerous place to be and the improvement was only a matter of time.

A mate of mine once went into camp on full chat in a tomcat and the steering rack snapped, he almost made the paddock by all accounts yikes

Although i reckon the most hit pit wall must be Silverstone, closley followed by the pit entrance
at Donny!!!

Did I hear that there have also been some changes to the pit entry at Oulton?

Closely followed by the wall near the pit exit at Donny - one of the scaryest posts to flag the pit lane exit!

Yes, I think I've heard that changes have been made at Oulton. Long overdue as well - anyone remember the TVR Tuscan ending up in it - probably the first Powertour year or perhaps the year before?

Fence has proved its worth - this is the crash that demolished the start light gantry and ran along side the fence in an airbone sort of way!

!! That's massive! Thanks for posting the link, OH saw footage of this on the local news a few days ago and we discussed then how bad it could have been if this had happened a year ago.

Some things of note from the footage - fab reactions from the driver in getting out swiftly....good marshalling (you alright driver?) - got there nice and quick, how SCARY was the smoke coming in like that.

Fab footage, glad all but the car are OK.

How big is your blinking pit board, it's no different at Brands.

The Castle Combe Saloons - where Evos go to die! I saw Harrison's massive accident earlier in the year which took out two of them, does anybody have any pictures of that?

Search Rob Ballard Crash on Youtube and you'll find it.
