interesting video clip...... but i have to say, what on earth was that marshal up to? as the car approaches, her collegue legs it, but all she does is turn her back, as if to say if i can't see it, i wont be hit. then after the car comes to rest, her collegue runs to assist the driver, but she just stands there and looks, then later on she's sobbing on the shoulder of another marshal.
now i know its pretty tabboo the criticise the marshals, but her behaviour, from what we see on that video clip, doesn't look very professional!

Ah eccles, as ever we stand in awe of the armchair fan.
By all accounts the car went over her head, maybe her life flashed in front of her eyes.
So, despite training and no doubt seeing similar impacts close at hand I'd say her behaviour was down to, um.. fear and shock mostly. Don't worry though, the poor girl's probably over it now, thanks to support from her friends.

yip - the easiest incident to deal with is someone elses!
Not having been to Thruxton - but it looks from the video that both marshals run to the side to try and get out the way - but theres only a very narrow gap in the tyre wall at that point and it looks like the lass is stuck where she is... at at that point was probly thinking 'this is it, i'm going to die'
Just think on - from the time the car is sideways, begining to roll to hitting the catch fencing is around 2 secs - not alot of time to react in.

Indeed yes, her friends on Ten Tenths have said they have since spoken to her and her husband, and they are ready to be back on the bank... and now happy to have a story to tell

That accident could have serious consequences for a number of UK circuits.
Kieth Odor vaulted the catch fencing at Donington back in the mid 90's, Pedro Lamy vaulted the the catch fencing at Silverstone in 94. It's one of those things that can happen, thankfully very rarely and so far without major consequences.
The worst case is probably the 1955 Le Mans race, where 82 people died when Pierre Levegh crashed with his Mercedes going into the main stand oposite the pits.
Safety standards are improved massively over time, but there is always going to be some risk, even at the most modern of F1 sanctioned circuits.
and there was this incident last september on Oulton's Fosters Circuit, tho i believe OP has reprofiled the kerbin to try and minimise the risk of this happening again

They say that section is not a spectator viewing point (none there anyway just a road and trees) but I was a little surprised to see 2 people walking down the road further along and not even turn round.
Was taking pics in that area during the superbike meeting the other month!
Spectators can walk along there.. it is the route from the complex to the tall banking you can see in the background of a picture posted earlier -
Funnily enough was standing on the big bank in 1995 when Charlie Cox managed to do something similar at about 140mph going into the chicane on the other side of the track... stopped spectators in going into that area after that one..
yep, spectators can walk along there (except truck meetings) but they tend not too as the viewing down there isn't very good.
Oh, and it's not down to the marshals to stop spectators, even though sometimes we do, the two marshals probably wouldn't be here today if they were walking along behind the fence to stop the spectators.
I was at the Chicane as the camera man showed me the replay on his monitor, my heart sunk when I see it.
