Yawn fest F1

Cant complain really at least watching F1 over the last few years has cured my insomnia,and made me relise how good GT´s and champ cars are. I now know that every second sunday I will get a get a good couple of hours kip while the grand prix is on.
The commentators try to make it sound so exciting, why dont they admit that watching F1 now is like watching dust settle.
The rule changes havent done anything significant and if Rubins and Michael hadnt had small probs with the pit stop they would have won by a week.The other teams had better get there fingers out sooner rather than later

Trouble is that F1 is the only motorsport fix that most of us get. I'm getting to a few more race meets (as a marshal now), but i can't/won't pay for sky to watch the stuff the bbc won't pay for. Channel 4 put GT/F3/Rallying on at 3 in the morning then wonder why nobody watches it. They won't move it because they say it's not majority interest, but that's because it's on at 3am.

And the best event of the year Le Mans will probably get 15 mins of highlights. Me thinks a bit of market research by the tv companies is in order.

If Racing's what you're after the is nothing that compares to superbikes.

The only prob I have with bikes is that I don't recognise the machines or find them as nice to look at as cars, But that's just where British GTs and Bikes differ!

F1 nowadays is boring, but maybe the TV companies have done some market research. Eurosport has a poll on best motorsport for petrolheads and F1 is way ahead (44% at present) compared to MotoGP, World Superbikes, Nascar, LG Super Racing Weekend etc.

Well I think this season is one of the best we've had for years. Sure, it isn't as exciting as it was in the 80's but it is a damn sight better than in recent years.

Although I think we were spoiled by the first three races, I do think it is generally moving in the right direction. There's only so much the FIA can do to spice it it up - the rest is down the teams.

My football friends say that over a typical season, the proportion of "boring" games to good tends to equate the same as in F1 - it's just that football fans appear to have greater patience than F1 fans (well all my chums support West Ham so I guess patience is a virtue their!)

I watched Austria over a few beers in the Kentagon on Sunday and then wondered out to see the action on the track - quite a nice mix I have to say.

I've some serious views on motorpsort on TV and I'll start a new topic when I have more time!
