He's a better driver than a lot of other drivers out there could ever be (Webber, I'm looking in your direction), is available to jump in the car at a moment's notice (who else is available at short notice?), knows the team and would be a dependable No. 2.

Unlike some other drivers out there who are complete and utter number twos.

It ain't gonna happen, but if, if, Alonso were replaced for the rest of the season they would initially go for their reserve driver. Remember he was a stron candiadte within the team for the second McLaren seat before Hamilton was confirmed.

Have read all the comments and I have to agree, Alonso is an idiot, for want of a real better word.

And yes I know the first rule of racing is to come in ahead of your team mate.... which is fine when you are out on the track and going up against each other but not when it means resorting to such tactics as those!
