I am shocked, yes totally shocked, that ITV did not mention this very important Lewis news:

I don't usually c&p but I'm sure Autosport won't mind on this occasion.

Hamilton gets privileged parking slot

By Mark Glendenning Friday, August 3rd 2007, 13:19 GMT

Lewis Hamilton may be embroiled in a tense championship battle, but his life has been made a touch easier away from the track - he will never have to fight for a car park at his local supermarket again.

The ASDA supermarket in Stevenage, near Hamilton's home town of Tewis, has allocated a spot for the McLaren rookie right outside the front door.

The privileged spot comes complete with a name plaque, a picture of a Formula One car, and the initials 'LH'.

I believe also that they all the staff have signed a card of congratulations for him if he ever comes to shop there.

That must make his big F1 adventure seem worthwile!

Get on down there Lewis, you're missing out on quite an event!

The family home in Tewin is far closer to Shredded Garden City (where it always smells of Welwyn Wheat factory by the railyway line).

The local press reported recently that Lewis was looking to move out because of the intense media attention, and all the paps camped out outside.

I can't see it being long before he joins many of the others in Monaco where celebs are just "ordinary" people, and they can get on with their lives without the media microscopes.

£400,000 a year means he's probably a Waitrose man. Or M&S Food.

They probably don't use supermarkets at all, but proper specialist grocery shops, butchers, bakers, and candlestick makers.

You get what you pay for. Supermarkets are cheap!

But that's another story.
