Any chance of Davidson for Toyota next year if they get rid of that big girl Ralf?
Crikey, that's what I was thinking. Would be most interesting.

I was a bit annoyed seeing Alonso make the comment about him bringing half a second, 6 tenths to the team.

So all the designers, engineers etc sat about all winter and done nothing did they?

He really needs to shut his hairy wee spanish face.

FA is entitled to his opinion, and, pre-season, McL were full of 'FA has already made SUCH a difference' etc, so I think he may have made a useful contribution.

Shame he lost it again during qualifying, perhaps he should look down the back of the sofa in his motor home.

Unbelievebly crap journalism when Louise Goodman interviewed Alonso, where he said he gave 0.6s to the team but wasnt rewarded. Next question should simply have been, what exactly do you want the team to give you as reward for the extra pace you provided? You have the salary, you have the car to win with, what reward do you want? But no, nothing, vacuous interviewing as per usual.

Are they all afraid to ask direct questions these days? Or doesn't their bullshit alarm work anymore?

It's all orchestrated contrived bollox to attract media time in which to place sponsorship. This displaces the real talents of the drivers in order to satisfy this agenda. Fair enough, sponsorship is necessary, but the boundaries are getting blurred.

Another factor is that the media rely on the "stars" for their content. No one is terribly interested in hearing thirty minutes of what Louise Goodman, Enzo Senior and even Mark Blundell have to say on their own.
If they were to start asking Alonso, Todt, Bernie or anyone else questions that were too close to the bone, they wouldn't be granted more interviews.

Come on John you know, as I do, that ITV are never going to ask questions that have not been approved by the PR people.

Yes, you and me, as real F1 fans want real answers.

Just a shame that it's all PR/PC now days.

Funny Brundle should have to mention the fact that Lewis didn't swear at Ron Dennis at the last GP. First place that I read about that was in Brundle's column in the Sunday Times. Perhaps MB has been a bit loose with the verite? biggrin

I think he has to be one of the more underated drivers, he is doing a great job in last year's car and for a new team. If Hamiltion wasn't around I'm sure ITV would be pining for some davidson-love.

He might not have sworn at big Ron - but did I see that clip correctly today that seemed to show LH giving the bird to FA in a rather candid kind of school-boy manner?...

...to be honest I only glanced up from my work to see it, or was it just ITV trying to dish some dirt?

Yeah, but there goes the ratings for F1 in England if itv cannot get the interviews. They're the media they can fight back. You can have a decent F1 programing w/o interviews with the top drivers too. If there is one thing F1 has to heed to I would think it's the broadcasting channel in England. I think it is the broadcasters and casts wimpyness for settling for a comfortable time rather than digging in their heels. If f1 tries to limit the British broadcaster don't they just shoot themselves in the foot for British viewer interest ultimately hurting F1's broader credibility in England (not just PH's)? Wasn't great when the photographer took a photograph of Mclarens foot well - few years back? That's the kind of stuff that can straighten this Ferrari mess out.

Original reports based on the original media briefing suggested LH had sworn at RD.

McLaren then release a press release denying LH used the F-word.

Reading between the lines it seems LH did swear at RD, maybe not with the F-word though, but McLaren tried to paper over the whole incident with some PR after the press got a bit too excited by it.

A lot of PR in McLaren this year. Don't trust any of it. Just watch the drivers with your own eyes and I think you will see what is really going on.

Just to follow on from above post - quote from Ted Kravitz's account on the ITV F1 site of the first McLaren press briefing after qualifying.

"Dennis also confirmed that there had been a sweary exchange on the radio between himself and Hamilton, although was not asked what he made of Lewis’s instruction to “swivel”."

This would not have been published if it had not been said as it would be clearly libellous and no journalist is stupid enough to misquote an actual press conference.

As you can see no reference to the F-word is made but swearing did happen.
