Hiya..

Here's some race footage from yesterday's class C&D Special GTs race @ Castle Combe..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgetW4rFDhg

The car is a Marlin 5Exi (racing against 5 rather expensive Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradales, 1 x Ferrari 430 CS, 1 x Ferrari 355 CS, BMW M3, Mazda RX7, etc)

Enjoy :-)

Dylan

p.s. quick quick off the line eh?

Probably - Jon's rex is one of the few cars on the grid that is road legal!

Thanks..

My second season - done about 12 races so far..

Why? do I have 'novice' written all over my driving style?

;-)

Comment on turning in too early is spot on!

I'm fighting a mental battle - brain says wait, arms say turn in..

Any other comments very welcome...

the Ferrari is pretty much on the right line - certainly suggest trying to hook up with a "good" coach

as others have said, you need to use all of the track, also, learn to heal&toe and leave down changes later (into the braking zones)

That race was won by Mark Funnel in his Lotus Exige, he's just getting better an better over the last 2 years, and doing it on a total shoestring of a budget...

Thanks guys..

So here is a question for you experienced racers:

If my best lap time yesterday was 1:16:347 - what sort of lap time do you think I could I achieve by improving my driving?

This question is obviously directed to someone that's raced around Castle Combe.. (you can watch my driving ability in the video)

Thanks - I can use all the help I can get!!

without driving your car, I have not the slightest idea!

that said, there's at least 2 sec's in better lines and braking...

I was there spectating too, some great racing thumbup

Anyone know what happened to the V8 Star Omega, It took part in the Britcar race a few of weeks ago and was stonkingly fast - and sounded amazing cloud9

But it retired after only 1 or 2 laps in the Special GTs (class C?).

I was there spectating as well. Top day out.
Not sure what happened to the V8 Star, but it was miles ahead after only 2 laps. That allowed the yellow Exige to win - but only just in front of the Caterham! The Exige seemed to be lucky and get by back markers coming into Tower, meaning the following Caterham was behind the back markers through Bobbies.

Edited to add: The E36 M3 also sounded brilliant. The 360CSs sounded a bit muted though, have heard one on the road and it seemed much louder...

Yeah I thought all the 360's sounded a bit pants (as they did last time I was there), especially compared to the Fezzers in the Perreli Classic. Even some of the 944s and 968's sounded more racyyikes

The Aston V8's sounded great too, and one of the DB4/5 (?) was kicking it's tail out on the exit of Tower charging hard after one of the big V8 Astons clap

And of course the Porsche Open's were great, really fast down to Quary bow - Hope it doen't take too long to fix up the yellow GT3.
