So if Spyker is being bought by a rich Indian, and Jaguar by Tatra might we see Jaguar back (as in 20th on the grid) in F1?

I wouldn't have thought so. What would be the value in that for the Jaguar brand?

hope not - jag belong in sportscars, when the new fia regs (GT1 and GT2 based on GT3 cars) come in they will easily be able to upgrade the XK GT3 car for that.

F1 is not where jag belong.

is it Spyker or the Spyker F1 team? And you are thinking of Tata, not Tatra.

Amen to that.

But they should only race if they can have a car out there that can actually win a race on merit.

The racing activities of Jaguar in the 80s and 90s were down to the fact that TWR did a first class job of designing, preparing and running the cars.

If Jaguar can't find their latter day equivalent, then frankly they should avoid any notion of racing like the plague.

You race to win to help market product to life's winners.

Turning up and losing is worse than not even bothering.

These guys are running the show - they ran the very sucessful Audi A4s in the BTCC during the late 90's and the Audi R8C at Le Mans, which laid the foundations for the LM winning Bentley in 2003.
