What is the relationship between the two companies? They keep mentioning something but I'm not sure what they are referring to.

As far as I know, It sounds likely that Prodrive will be a Mclaren "B" Team when they go into F1 next year, using Mclaren chassis and technology etc. Not 100% sure how much input Mclaren will have though, but with them being at the bottom of the pitlane next year, at least they'll be next door to each other!

If they use a McLaren chassis next year, will it also need to be subject to extra FIA scrutiny?

As a new team, at least they can share a motorhome space and garage with McLaren, who will now be next door after finishing last in the constructor's championship!

I'm not sure if anyone is seeing this, but i'm sure I've heard references from Mclaren about the 2008 season (which I believe through GPWC they are signed up for), but they don't seem to talk about the "future".

Can't put my finger on it, but its almost like they are saying we'll do 2008 but won't commit any further, so if ProDrive are a sister team in dna, then what are the chances of GPWC coming true with Mclaren jumping the F1 ship?

Didn't the same split happen with Champ and Indy cars?

I'm sure the current Concorde agreement expires end of next season, Mercedes and several other car manufacturers wanted to set up an alternative to Formula one, with a fairer share of the TV revenue and different rules(customer chassis bieng one request). For my money, I rekon this is now a reality rather than a threat, F1 would collapse without the vehicle manufacturers support, especially with regards to engines....... rename the series Ferrari 1 !

Using a customer chassis and engine in this day and age means an also ran, if however like in days of old all customers had access to the latest spec engines and chassis, the life of the given components would be longer, development costs off set by sales and probably closer racing AKA the American series. Also some simple cost restrictions could be applied, like engines must be production car based. call it something along the lines of World Premier Racing Championship and sell out at most race tracks, costs will be lower overall and the ticket prices will be lower too, have a large number of the F1 names performing and the current Bernie and Max show would implode. Dave Richards is the man to promote it on TV IMO

Currently there is no relationship between prodrive and M-B or McLaren. Both sides have had talks, but no paperwork has been signed, no contractrs exist and until a revised Concorde Agreement is put into place nothing will happen. prodrive currently have no sponsors, no motorhome, no F1 experience and no race team people nor engineers. Don't hold your breath on this one at the moment.

I think you'll find that a memorandum of understanding was signed some time ago - this gives Prodrive some rights including first in queue as B team, but I am betting there's a time limit on this. After the Direxiv fiasco, I am equally sure McLaren will have taken steps to ensure that they are not committed to anyone.

DR has recently stated that he won't sign until the new Concorde agreement has been finalised; I guess he wants to see exactly what is in there...it might also be a convenient excuse to paper over any cracks.

No. DR was involved in both Benetton and Honda but in a team principal role
