Did anyone see / notice the lime green / yellow MG (think was number 69) in the historic race after the WTCC. He came from near the back of the Grid up to about 5th before the pitstop where the driver (??) handed over to his dad.

The son was mega quick - he overtook 3 cars into paddock one lap and was sideways coming through clearways onto the straight! His dad wasn't as quick or spectacluar and ended up in the gravel at clearways with 5 mins left of the race - a great shame.

I'd love to find out more about that car as it was stupidly quick!
its an awsome machine, very, very fast. its got a rover v8 thats fairly trick in it.

it actually won at brands last year, beating the camero of andy rouse...........

i think its weakest area are the tyres......

There was an info board displayed with it in the paddock. Something like 370bhp, 900kgs or so, was running on Toyos R888s I think. Built 1992, raced by two drivers, 1 with 30 years experience, 1 with under 10 I think.

Yes thats the one - it was Spencer who started and was rapid. Roy (the dad i believe) was quick but no where near as fast as spencer.

I'll have to look out for that car / driver again as was brilliant to watch.

Here is Roy showing the late (Great) Gerry Marshall round at Thruxton in 04 Thoroughbred race!

Yep it is a Tad Fast! Something like 370bhp on quad downdraughts!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-326313176... Yep he does run me off the road here!

Roy taking the spoils again (whooping the Marshplant Astons again! - thos things have well over 400bhp).

Sorry I didn't get any of the 78 Aston, but I could only make Sunday. (Doing the VXR Racing driver of the year on Saturday.) Hope the Aston wasn't too badly damaged.

No probs, I only made Sunday myself, hence being massivly annoyed at a back marker just turning in on him after having waved blue flags on the Saturday frown Amusingly enough (or not), I heard he did the same thing at the same place whilst being lapped at Brands before, except that time he put a DB4 in the wall, maybe someone can confirm or deny ??

Car is damaged enough that it will not be making Spa next week frown

It could be fixed and make it in time if it were the only car going, but there is a DB4 in bits being prepared for the 6 hour, so the DBS is on hold frown

Sorry to hear that the car won't make Spa. There was a DB4 in the wall at the A1gp meet at Brands earlier this year, (Peter Wheeler's white one.) I didn't see what caused it though.

:J: the anglia of gordan streeter was involved in the peter wheeler incident at the a1gp. however i think it was more the fault of the driver of the db5 than gordan.

i didnt see the accident with your dad so cant comment, but can only assume that from the damage that one of the cars was spinning, or at the least very sideways at the point of contact.

whilst not sticking up for gordan, or wishing to insult your dad, its very hard to aportion blame, sure the blue flags will be out, but us slower, smaller cars have been told that we should maintain our track position (i.e our racing line) and the faster cars should make their way past us, so if needs be they should slow down or move off the line to allow for us.

obviously, this works fine on paper, but i find that its best to sometimes move off line to allow the cars to pass, this depends a lot of the bend, and the driver, some of the drivers of the larger cars are very aggessive and want to be past no matter what, yet some of them, andy rouse in particular, will see a smaller car, and wait until he knows he has been seen, if needs be wait a bend or two, before comming past.

i guess it was just a racing accident, not a good one for your dad i'd agree, but if the coc had thought the driving standards where in any doubt the drivers would have been called up!

Is there a results page for all the races somewhere - MST don't seem to do the WTCC stuff!

any idea whos TR6 this is?

What race is it - always interested in races to do with ours - Unless it is some daft HSCC type thing where we have to run metal panels and no Webbers!

the hgtcc regs are easy

no turbo or supercharger (unless period)

treaded tyres or 4 grooved slicks (at discretion)

cars must look 'of period', if you take the pi55 you will get moved into the invitation class.

so, as long as it looks okay, you can do pretty much what you want. this means there is a good mix of cars, talents (!), and classes, which makes for a good race and very good crowd reviews!

Interesting - is this the one with 2 driver events and daft entry prices and club membership?

Most do the lotto more!

So a TR would have to run a screen presumably. Actually - if racing mid field agaisnt Nutz Astons the appeal is lessening!

The Peter Wheeler I presume!?

fees are high yes, but we offset the costs against each race been a double header and at least one of the races been a two driver. the way we see it is that the costs in only one lot of diesel, time off work etc etc compensates for the costs.

i think (from memory) if you work out time on track it costs about 2.70 a min, where as a normal club race series will work out at about 1.60

factor in that you get 6 tickets instead of the 4 normally provided to club events and you are one with some good stuff - which equals good crowds and people who take really nice photoss means that the whole package is a lot better, all the better if you have sponsors and what not.

you also get decent food provided as well.

i think a tr6 could race with no screen, the sunbeam tiger that comes out doesnt bother.

you also cant look at it as 'racing with backmarkers', there is such a performance differance between the cars that is likley that you will only be mixed in a group of 4 or 5 cars. its the fontrunners lapping you and the pack getting mixed up due to driver changes that causes most of the fun, plus my favouite trick is to be passed by a faster car on the straight, then simply overtake them on the bends again!!!

Might look at this when have my Griff running - be like the blue one on herewink

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-326313176... Chap who has this one is unfortunately selling it.

But maybe talk him into doing some of these - split costs? Presume it would be eligible - think it would have the beating of all the cars I can see registered.
