Is anyone else getting sick of Hamilton's whining?

Irrespective of whether what Alonso did re Stepneygate was right or wrong, Alonso (and Ron) is handling himself with great dignity in his comments to the press.

Hamilton just makes me want to cringe with his countless digs at Alonso and his "aren't I great" comments. It's as if he has some massive inferiority complex or something. These seem distinctly at odds with the equality between the drivers that McLaren promote.

One only has to look at any of the comments he has said on Pitpass or Planet F1 - some reent examples:

"I'd much rather it were Fernando in a Ferrari and me in a McLaren," the 22-year-old Brit said.

"And since what's gone on in the last few weeks they've realised who the real people are in the team and who they really should back."

Hamilton's petulence in the post race press conference when it was suggested that he was taking the blame for the incident with Kubica was also embarrassing to watch.

I am a long time Ferrari fan, but part of me is now wishing that Alonso will take the title and put this whippersnapper in his place!

Back in the day, my friends used to criticise my fondness of Eddie Irvine, who they thought was arrogant. Eddie was humourous, and most of his comments were said tongue in cheek, and yet lots of people disliked him because of his attitude.

I wonder what those same people's view of Hamilton will be in a few years time?

PS - Has anyone else tried the "Lewis Hamilton Drinking Game"? You must take a swig of your drink each time "Lewis Hamilton" is mentioned on the ITV F1 coverage. Trust me - you will only play it once ; )

I can't tell you how much i hate this stuff.

Lewis Hamilton is just the greatest thing to hit british motorsport for god knows how long, he's fabulously talented and its all come from hard work. Everyone who knows him seems to like him and his story is just fantastic. I find it impossible to believe that he is still leading the championship as i was convinced that his two main rivals had got up to speed, yet look at his performance in that last grand prix, and now here we are with two races left and he's got a 12 point lead. Astonishing.

And that overtaking move on Kimi in Italy, my god where did that come from? Haven't we all been told for years by countless drivers about how hard it is to overtake in F1, and yet Lewis has been doing it all bloody season! Outbraking another driver is supposewd to next to impssible due to the crazily short braking distances, and yet Lewis outbrakes a top driver from way back, so far back that it took everybody by surprise, not least the tv production company.

Lewis is just fantastic, he's just the very best thing, he's young, gifted and black and he has swept the sport away. I can't get enough of seeing him and i'm looking forward to years of seeing great racing from him. Its just such a shame that so many whinging Brits have to come out of the woodwork and moan about him.

EE, (what a shame to waste such a great name), you've revealed more about your own personality than you'll ever know. Shame on you.
Well said that man.

There's a sentiment I agree totally with you on.

It seems to be that Hamilton is going to be the next Schumacher(M).

In that the people who like him point to his driving and the people who dont like him point to his character.

It's a shame we can't have a champion that encompasses both.

He is a good driver.

It's his personality traits I don't particularly care for.

I watched the old Duke video "Champion - Hunt" last night about James Hunt.

Now, there is a way to express yourself in a dignified, self deprecating manner - there was nothing boastful about James.

No but I'm getting sick of all the comments attributed to him as whining.

It wasn't long ago that we all wanted another James Hunt, another Eddie Irvine. Someone who said what they wanted to without too much toeing of the corporate line. I think Hamilton is managing to cover both, being the perfect corporate speaker while still showing some backbone on other matters......and winning on track.
Hamilton is a dullard in comparison to Eddie.

Give the lad time! He's already bedded one of his bosses daughters. hehe

Mind you, the above is very good.
>>After his first few races, Eddie remarked in an interview, "What a start to my Grand Prix career. I got punched by Senna in my first race, crashed in my second, destroyed four cars in my third and got banned from my fourth. People are going to think I'm some kind of nutter."<<

At the end of the day, the only way to measure a true champion is if all the drivers are driving exactly the same car, then it is down purely to driver skill. As that is not going to happen it is up to that driver to beat his team mate in the same car. Now Alonso has bitched about not being given number one status in the team, how can he claim to be the best if he is looking to disadvantage his team mate. LH has come in on his rookie season and so far beaten the world champion, does that give him reason to big him self up a bit, I think it does. Personnally I dont like boastfull people that much, I think he should keep the good guy image and let his results speak for themselves. At the end of the day his sponcers will pay him very well for that. Let the other guys make dicks of themselves.

Does that video sho where James went to assault a marshal at Monaco and the marshal puts James flat on his back across his car? I've seen that on a video.

EE, I haven't checked your profile, bt you're young, aren't you? Honestly mate, when you get to learn a bit more about the sport, and talk to people who knew Nige, or knew what he was really like, you're gonna die of embarrassment.

Compared to Our Nige, Hamilton is the Pope.

Nige was one of the most exciting drivers ever to grace the track, but christ, you wouldn't want to spend more than 5 minutes in his company.

I think "Our Nige" has mellowed a bit in his old age though. Was positively charming at Silverstone this year and just seemed more "content" than when he was an F1 driver.

I was kidding about the "cheating" car.

It will be great to have a Brit win the championship.

Someone said Mansell took 12 years to win the title. That is probably because he had to work hard and sell his house to help fund his racing driver - not be groomed by McLaren since he was 13 and then be gifted with the best car on the grid in his debut season.
Why are you so bitter? LHs dad worked like hell to keep him racing, he bought his first kart when he was 6 ffs
What Apache said yes
