Winning Hamilton
Discussion
How many times in the past have we seen this very same situation?
A Brit either enters a sport with a lot of promise of doing well, or works there way through the sport and shows a lot of promise for doing well, the press/media and public back him like he is the best thing since sliced bread and add to all the positive hype like a rolling stone gathering moss.
When the said Brit achieves or betters the expectations from earlier on, the very same press/media and public start nit picking and excagerating stuff they MAY have heard from a man who knows a dog who lives round the corner from someone who once met his next door neighbours parrot. It is exactly the same with anyone in anything that is in the public eye.
We are witnessing someone who has put a lot of his life toward a goal, and he has a VERY good chance of achieving that goal, and he is being slated. I as well as a lot of other people would like to see him win the championship this year, and I reckon he will do.
To be the best and win at anything there needs to be an element of arrogance, LH seems to be able to strike the right balance of this and yet not being outwardly offensive an dinsulting to others like a lot of people in the past.
There you go, my 2 pence worth, now i will probably get slated for being an Englishman supporting an Englishman, in an English team and hoping they win.

Possibly not. But I would try to show humilty and have a measure of self deprecation in my comments.
Especially when winning races in a "cheating" car ; )
Seriously though, imagine how big headed he will be next year if he wins!
Somewhat ironic given that Ferrari went out on intermediates when Charlie Whiting had told every team explicitly that they HAD to start on extreme wets.Especially when winning races in a "cheating" car ; )
Seriously though, imagine how big headed he will be next year if he wins!
1. Alonso tried to blackmail his own team into getting no 1 driver status. This shows a complete lack of any class whatsoever.
2. Alonso admits he cheated using Ferrari information he knew to be considential. Again, no class.
3. When the flag drops the bullsh1t stops. Lewis crossed the line in first place at the weekend. The cheating spaniard stuck his car into the wall completely on his own.
End of story.

I wonder if the OP would be airing his views if Mr Hamilton was white.
Absolutely no need for that at all. His race (colour) has had inferred zero bearing on any person's post including that of the OP. Such serious accusations are not welcomed on PistonHeads. Enough.

I'm certainly no LH fan (I think he's talented, but is becoming increasingly arrogant - though that never stopped M.Schumacher did it ), but he was the better driver on the day.

And let us not forget Jacques Villeneuve's debut season.
Pole in his first race, and Lewis has only now matched his 4 wins in his debut season.
ITV have mentioned JV only once all season as a successful rookie.
interesting comparison , and a good point. JV was very unlucky not to win '96.Pole in his first race, and Lewis has only now matched his 4 wins in his debut season.
ITV have mentioned JV only once all season as a successful rookie.
but then as for coverage, he wasn't british
he was french-canadian, and what could be worse.

hmmm...Indy 500 winner, Champ car title winner....jumps straight into a development of last year's superior car (Hill should have won his first title in that car in 1995). No wonder why ITV have only mentioned him once....Pole in his first race, and Lewis has only now matched his 4 wins in his debut season.
ITV have mentioned JV only once all season as a successful rookie.
...and as for Alonso conduting himself with dignity...well yes, I do agree that at Fuji he did conduct himself well. I wonder how much of that is down to his wishing to still drive for McLaren next season.

ITV's coverage has gone a long way to add to my dislike of Hamilton.
Is this another one of those Scotts wanting to see anyone apart from the english win at sport things?Just remember that when you're cheering on the so called "plucky brit" at Wimbledon.
It's no coincidence his right wrist is injured.

When Hill won the F1 title I was slated by a number of friends for supporting him. The same people told me how pleased they were that Frentzen got Hill's drive at Williams and how much better Frentzen would do and how Frentzen deserved the seat more than Hill....I don't remember Frentzen doing very well at all...
