yes

You think England is a nanny state?

Oz makes England look like feeding time at the zoo in comparison.
Rifgt again 308, I worry about the people who whinge about England and think if they move to Oz they leave all that behind... a rude awakaning awaits. (And if they stay here too long they will find it financially impossible to move back to England frown )

Trying to watch the ing news updates on that ingt useless pile of shit bigpond site and the ing video keeps stopping every 3 seconds (literally) to buffer again!!

Anyone know how I can sort this? Never had good experience with this site, no matter what machine I try and view it from.

Not tried to stream anything from the Bigknob site, don't expect too much (it is Telstra after all wink )

Hoping GT can win tommorow, would love to see him take the championship this year. We swapped a gearbox in my race car in Garth's parents' driveway many years ago, Garth & his brother Leon were racing karts in those days.

I ought to go for GT but I cant help seeing Skaifey as spiritual successor to PB (whilst obviously not being fit to tie PB's posthumous shoe laces) so its a tough one.

5 'roos eh? They should nip down to South Perth 4WD rentals and race those instead. (Thats what we did up at Lawlers Gold Mine - and we never had a problem with roos wink )

Slightly O/T (not much) we drove across to Bathurst for the 83 race, had to stop on the Nullabor in the middle of the night as there were literally hundreds of the bloody things, we were crawling along at about 50kph trying to avoid them. Did the trip in my Dad's HQ V8, including an unscheduled pit stop at Ceduna to replace a bent valve yikes

On that note, there was a guy rode round the world on a Yamaha R1 in about 5minutes or some bloody thing a while back. When he got to Oz, he slept all day and opted to drive down through the territiory at night to avoid the heat and any traffic(!). There were so many roos out on the road (roos spell absolute disaster on a bike obviously) he was down to 50kmh too. One of the slowest parts of his journey in the end!

Think its the first time I've seen that many cars that close at the end of a Bathurst race - it really is a 1000km sprint race isn't it.

Bloody good racing IMO (and I'm pretty happy with the result as well).

Its only on sky, we don't get it on free TV and as I don't have sky (what student does?) I don't know when its on. We don't even get WRC on normal TV anymore, its pretty crap really.

Big Bathurst fan from an early age. Just been watching loads of stuff on Youtube and I saw Brocky racing an old A30 in the 60s/70s.

All I can find is that it had a "179 Holden" engine which means nothing to me. Anyone able to enlighten me?

Was the 179 the old 3.3 straight six? ETA actually I think that was the 202. One of our Aussie PHers may have more knowledge of these things.

Got it on MotorsTV atm - so different to the F1! (For the better)

Friendly people, drivers sitting in the cars tapping the steering wheels to the music which two people are singing on the main straight, a presenter calling the president (i think) 'mate'.

Love it.

Sounds like it's live too?

" 179 " was a reference to to the engine capacity in cubic inches . It was a straight 6 . The motor was introduced in around 1964 ?

eta Ben yes the 3.3L is the 202. 179CI is 2933cc

IIRC the 179 was one of the original Holden "Grey" series 6 cyl engines. I think there was also a 138, 149, and the 179 "pusuit" or similar, IIRC from a Canadian market(?) with a steel crank. I might be a bit confused though, many years ago.
These were replaced by the "Red" series 6 cylinders, 161, 186 then 173 and 202CI. My first car was a 1971 GTR Torana with the 161"S" engine.

According to MotorsTV website, tonights program is:

"V8 SUPERCARS HIGHLIGHTS RD 10 : BATHURST
It's THE race. 1000 Kilometers on the gruelling Mount Panorama, and always an action-packed event till the flag !"
