They only add race fuel for the final session, the other sessions they run light, hamilton pitted first so had lightest car in final qualifying.
I think we should have final qualifying the same as second, the different fuel loads make pole not the achievement it used to befrown
But I thought that throughout, whether he'd been on identical fuel or less fuel in the final session, I thought i'd heard that he'd only been quickest in his final lap. I was under the impression that was the only time he'sd been ahead of the others.

I realise he'd pitted first, but i'd wondered if they'd brought him early to get him out in clear air, which seemed to work a treat.

They usually only have time for two timed "new tyre" runs after the fuel burn, his final one was very tidy.
Mclaren usually go as long as they can don't they?, I think if he had the fuel to stay out he still would have come out away from traffic as he was a long way ahead of the main group of cars.

Exactly. It was just James Allen being a tt and suggesting golden balls had a load more fuel in but decided to stop in early. Martin Brundle did correct him the second time he said it.

With the weather conditions as they were there would be no chance in hell they'd have called him in early.

Three things...

1) Did Alonso and the Ferraris change their tyres at the first pit stop? Hamilton didn't.

2) It seemed to me that LH realised he wasn't going to make the corner so opted to go into the gravel in as controlled a manner as possible, rather than continue fighting the car which would have beached the car sooner. It didn't quite work.

3) There is no way this was fixed. I can't stand conspiracy theorists. Man walked on the moon. Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK. Diana died because her chauffeur was drunk and she was too thick to wear a seatbelt. LH ed up and drove into the gravel.

1) No

2) Agreed

3) I love a good conspiracy theory but I agree, there's no chance in hell this was intentional. Anyone who honestly believes this I feel sorry for as they have grown far too cynical with time (which is understandable considering the current state of the UK and F1)

Kimi did'nt change his either but he said in the post race interview(that we missed most of) that he had understeer early in the race, so maybe he wasnt using his rear tyres as much, his fronts looked pretty marginal at the first stop.

Not with that gun he didn't. To shoot a moving target spot on from that range with that gun was completely and totally impossible. But maybe this is another topic. smile

Can you imagine if Fernando had run out of tyre though? Fliiping heck then it would have been a conspiracy! rolleyes

"Change your what, Fernando? There's a bad signal mate, can't quite hear you" hehe

Piffle. I mean I'm not saying I know it was fixed for certain, but this would not be the first major sport or sporting event to be rigged:

1. I find it pretty hard to beleive a team of the calibre of McLaren would even contemplate the handling (especially in the damp) and puncture/blowout (a few cars had been of, and there was debris on track) risks of staying out on bald tyres.
2. How did Kubica's BMW suddenly fade away when he took the lead, and why didn't anyone on ITV ask the team?
3. Don't underestimate the value for the sponsors of having a down-to-the-wire finish?

1) There were lots of variables for McLaren to consider, namely what was going to happen with the weather. IIRC a shower was predicted to be due right around the time LH fell off meaning the choice of tyres to put on would be critical. Leaving LH out for longer meant they could make a better tyre choice.
2) BMW have been having hydraulic issues for a while now, he lost power steering and gears as he had in practice IIRC
3) While I agree F1 has been / can be / will be rigged, Sunday was not an example of that.

But at the rate he was losing time, 7 secs on one lap, by the time the team made their mind up he would have been last.

I don't think it was rigged, but on the other hand nothing makes any sense whatsoever.
