national B race Licence
step 1) get your ards pack
step 2) get medical form filled out
step 3) book ards test. Most of the circuits do it
step 4) get photo taken
step 5) send completed ards form and passport photo to msa.
There are other options including the advanced ards test and also the race intensive course at silverstone, these cost more but give more instruction and potentially more signatures on your licence.
Some circuits just do the basic ards, and others throw in some more instruction first.
Once you've got your national B you have to carry a novice cross on the car until you have completed 6 races and got 6 signatures on your licence. you can then also upgrade to nat A but not neccessary.

Hi,
Going to do the week course at silverstone at the end of the month.
Believe you get two signatures for the licence as part of the course. If I remember correctly one of the six signatures can be for a days marshalling.

I got my one from Goodwood with Mithrill (Mythrill?) Racing.
I know the circuit well from track days and sprinting so I got a discount for just doing the test but other people there did a familiarisation session for another £100 or so. Was very friendly and whilst fast is a relatively simple track to learn and remember the lines.

I only had time to do the exam so travelled to S'Stone last year did the exam and went back home again with required signature then medical, after that sent off for licence, total cost less than £500. Then take it easy at start of season until you get used to the racing and how the others drive. There are plenty of experienced drivers to speak with and reckon Andy Race of TVR Monster would be a good starting place. Enjoy.............
