Fernando Alonso has allegedly briefed Spanish reporters that McLaren are deliberately sabotaging his car.

While it is public knowledge that Alonso feels aggrieved at the team's refusal to install him as their number one driver, the Spaniard hasn't gone so far as to claim that team-mate and World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton has received preferential treatment.

However, in a deeply unpleasant exchange during Friday's press conference, Alonso pointedly refused to denounce the allegation.

Asked specifically whether 'you think you have been treated in a fair way by the team or could maybe the team favour Lewis by making subtle changes to your car, like tyre pressures or wing settings?', Alonso merely replied: "Difficult question... I will not answer."

According to Times correspondent Edward Gorman, present at the press conference, Alonso 'paused for emphasis' and 'gave the clear impression that he believes the team are doctoring his race car to ensure that Hamilton wins the title.'

'No one who heard him could be in any doubt what his intended meaning was and indeed Spanish journalists close to Alonso said he has been saying as much privately for some time.'

Oh well, that's more than enough evidence for Max to exclude Hamilton from this and next year's championship. Just got to wait for Ferrari to lodge a complaint against Fernando's treatment...

I know why FA is not going as quick as Lewis. Because he spends too much feckin time throwing his teddys out of his cot and having to pick them up again than working with his race engineers. Bless him, I'll post him my nephew's blanky to stop himweeping Stop your bleating and get it done on the bloody race track!

I heard from someone who should know, that FA didnt have to share set up info or telemetry with Lewis, but had access to Lewis's info, not last weekend though! Alonso complained about changes made to Lewis car for his final qualifying run.....was the boy wonder sand bagging? LOL

Factual reporting at it's best. It ranks right up there along with a cop from LA saying "Rodney said he was innocent, but he gave the clear indication that he wanted a thorough doing over'.

God I love Moto GP smile

Ron's not happy with FA about that. But not much change there, I suppose.
(From Autosport's transcript of this morning's press conference).
Q. (Ed Gorman – The Times) Ron, yesterday Fernando was asked whether he thought he'd been treated fairly by the team in Japan and specifically whether his car had been doctored by the team in terms of tyre pressures and wing settings and he specifically declined to answer the question which gave the impression to most of us in the room that he feels that there may be some grounds to believe that the team is interfering with his car. Could you comment on that please?

RD: Well, you introduced the word doctored. I don't think that was a word that was used in the question or the answer to it. Going into the Japanese Grand Prix Fernando was two points behind Lewis. I think the Grand Prix season so far, in respect of our two cars, their reliability, their competitiveness and the way that our team has conducted itself leaves nobody in Formula One with the view that we do anything other than provide equality to both of our drivers. There are numerous equality clauses in our contracts. They are reciprocal in both drivers' contracts and it is a well known fact that we do not favour – even in very very difficult circumstances, even in the level of competitiveness and the spirit of competitiveness that sits between our drivers – we never will, never have and certainly are not favouring either driver at the moment. This is a straight fight and I'm obviously disappointed that someone who really has all the knowledge should not be more direct and open with the response which is: equality is how we run our team.
