so your all agreeing with me then, Ferrari are breaking the sport rules and the broadcasters(including ITV) are breaking the law in countries where an advertsising ban is in place.
As I understand it it's legal to have the advertising on the cars in countries where is is legal to advertise tobacco products and it is legal for TV pictures filmed in those countries to be shown where otherwise there is a ban such as EU countries. At races in EU countries for example the M******o name does not actually appear on the race cars (and hasnt for a while) but imagery of the brand ID used to (the red and white emblem) and now they just have a number of blank spaces the width of a character each for the same number of letters in the M word.
Seems double standards but no doubt the marketing chaps will use words like sublimminal to explain it!
All in all though boys no conspiracy theory with which here to get back at Ferrari - sorry!!
PS didnt know it was a clothing brand - presumably all the range smell like my sweaters used to after a night at the pub pre smoking ban!!

I suppose marketing types might describe it as a 'lifestyle' brand, like Porsche sunglasses or Cat boots for example.Didn't realise Ferrari were the only ones with tobacco sponsorship left, but the brand name being obscured or revealed at different tracks has gone on for years.
Once Tobacco money has gone completely I guess Alcohol will be the next target, and in 2020 I'm sure there will be similar damning comments made about the caffine in Red Bull

The China race is as a direct result of Marlboro's pressure on Mosley. China is seen as the perfect place to sell more cancer. Little liklihood of litigation, lots of fresh, clean lungs to infect. I read that they were already having problems with smoking-linked diseases in China.
I disagree with the above strongly. The Chinese GP was pushed by the motor manufacturers where they see the massive Chinese middle classes lusting after Toyota, BMW and M-B cars....in addition to Mini's Rolls Royces and Ferrari. IT and hi-fi manufacturing is vast there too so it makes great sense to promote your product to the worlds biggest consumer market place.
Marlboro and other tobacco have a tiny percentage of the Chinese tobacco market due to the 'high' cost of luxury brands. The Chinese Government control ALL tobacco sales and cigarettes cost as little a 0.4 Euros a packet. The Chinese Government don't care about cancer and with no real health service and no minimum smoking limit why not help local tobacco companies flourish when you own them.
The race has bugger all to do with Marlboro promoting cigarettes!
Sorry to dissolusion you but you have to read a book called 'The Pits' if I remember properly. By a woman journalist who followed F1.I disagree with the above strongly. The reason Bernie is so rich and powerful is that his agenda specifically follows Tobacco advertising all over the world . . no tobacco advertising in the UK then no British GP.
This is true. Bernie is the most unscrupulous man in the world nence his wealth.
I refused as a child to buy ciggarettes for my mum ven though I was beaten for refusung. Some of us have higher morals than Mr Bernie.
wouldn't mind his dosh though but couldn't do without the cancer deaths on my hands my wife works in a hospice.
It is unresolved in law whether the teams (which are based in the EU) may have their racing cars shown on tv in the EU if they are wearing tobacco livery, even if the event being shown is held outside the EU.
All the teams have decided to respect the spirit of the law by not showing any tobacco advertising on tv, where it would be exposed to tens of millions of children.
That is, all the teams except Ferrari, who found the money too hard to resist.
