Jesus! No wonder he was bloody sliding about!!!

What has that kind of wear been caused by? Is it purely down to them being wet tyres and overheating or a bad case of trying to squeeze a few too many laps out of them - or both!!

In my opinion, surely McLaren know that he only has to finish top 5 or 6 to pretty much sew it up so why chance getting a few extra laps out of them when he was sliding around like he was on an ice rink??

He should have been brought in as soon as he lost 5secs on the one lap.

And remember tread depth rules do not apply to wet weather tyres. Only the dry "slicks". wink

I believe LH is rather hard on his tyres, FA and Kimi's lasted ok, It's a shame in my opinion that it turned out this way.....he wont allow that error to happen again, good to see him shoulder the blame and greet all of the team personally, even in defeat/when dissapointed the lad has class.

[anorak mode] interestingly, on a swift scan of the regs, the regs relating to tyre depth etc. on dry tyres specifically says "when new" - I couldn't see any requirement for how the tyres should be after use. I might have missed it of course ... [/anorak mode]

Astonishing run of events, surely the blame has to be placed with the inadequate strategists at Mclaren, he was down to 1.55 laps tussling with Renaults why was he not bought in within the next couple of laps? It's not as if he needed to win the race outright rolleyes

I have been on the side of Mclaren and feel they have had an unnecceseary tough run of things from the powers that be, today was clearly their own fault, impressed that Lewis H was professional enough to back the team up for their efforts.

I really cannot believe what I have seen today, why the hell Lewis stayed out on them tyres is just madness, even if you where working towards your fuel stop, Lewis was loosing so mush time it would not have mattered. I was watching the TV and thinking to myself, yeah Mclaren are differently going to bring him in know, BUT NO he just keeps going round the bloody race track, I have seen some stupid decision by F1 teams, but to leave Lewis out there with no grip what so ever is just stupidly.

As already mentioned, the sport being rigged, would seem to fit the bill.

Millions of pounds of TV revenues can only be secured by maximising the viewing figures for every race.

Bernie is pulling the strings and dictating the course of the championship right through the season to create a tight ending. The drivers then get to race properly once a year at the end.

It's a crock.....

I thought this sport was supposed to be 'professional'? What in the name of tyre wear was McLaren thinking? They were looking at exactly the same pictures as us lot and I, like the rest of you, were probably screaming at the tv to get him in the pits. I swear this sport is rigged, there can be no reasonable excuse that McIdiots can give for him to stay out like that. What a total bunch of crazy idiots.

It was pretty obvious on tele that he was OK under breaking but could not either get round the corner or accelerate away, even without wing mirrors, even my wife would have figured out there was something wrong with the rear, then to bin it going into the pits beggers belief.

I blame Lewis and his race engineer.... as soon as his tyres were toast he could not win, yet they pushed........

yes

Has to be 50:50 blame for sure. Whilst the team are the people making the strategy, Lewis should have had the authority to tell them on the radio (assuming they wanted him to stay out), "Fcensoredk that! These tyres are fcensoredked! Get me a set ready I'm coming in!"

Seemed to me that it was pretty clear by that time that slicks were the way to go, however Martin did mention a rain prediction ..... Did indeciciveness regarding this weather lead to Lewis staying out too long just in case something changed? What kind of tyres were in the warmers that they'd brought out onto the pit lane?

Would someone like to explain to me how this is rigged?
Does Bernie have a red telephone that he uses to call the team managers to demand that they tell their drivers to do certain things?
I can just imagine him sitting there stroking a cat with a bejewelled hand shouting down his red phone "just one more lap Ron, one more lap"

I couldn't believe my eyes by the way, and almost found it funny when one of the ITV commentators said "he has a bit of paper on his tyres" - that'll be canvas Sir.
