".... We weren’t racing Kimi, we were basically racing Fernando.”

Ron D. lets slip what everyone has been thinking for a while now. Oh well at least it will save you a xmas card Ron.

I don't think Ron does 'faux pas'.
He's probably looking for a new test driver next year, who better than a former double World Champion?

The "we" is Lewis and his side of the team and people on the pitwall calling his strategy. It's 100% correct that they were racing Fred at the time, before Lewis had the DNF Kimi was out of it. Yet more bollox over nothing.

One element that does seem to be becoming increasingly obvious is that McLaren as an organisation have, in recent weeks, turned their collective backs on Alonso. The team are going through the motions with their unhappy Spaniard, but are deriving very little pleasure from the process and it is undoubtedly the case that, as a group, they would prefer to see Hamilton win the title.
Hardly a suprise is it after the petulant was FA has behaved. had he knuckled down all season and focussed on being part of the team rather than some sort of prima-donna, stuck witht he team through the Spy scandal and generally been a decent chap he'd be facing a completely different situation now.

He's made his own position untennable in a sport where you need the team (at least your side of the garage) behind you 100%.

I suspect the only reason he's not announced that he's leaving is that he'd have to buy himself out of his contract. Same reason he's not been booted - no way is RD going to fund FA to move him on to Renault...
