Want to Go Karting

Anyone got any thoughts on a suitable kart race series (in the South East) for a novice who just wants to have fun?

Ideally I'm interested in building my own kart so any advice on manufacturers and specs would be appreciated.

Why not try the Club100 arrive & drive - cheaper than buying/building your own.
And the racing's pretty good as well.

Alternatively, you can hire an 'Easykart' from www.easykart.co.uk
(more expensive but 5 to 8 seconds per lap quicker & the chassis won't be bent!)

The summer series has just finished, winter series about to start....

Thanks guys, for me part of the fun would be building the kart so not really interested in hiring.

I just don't know where to start to find the right series and the most competitive kart for that series.
