the possibilty of that nobber James Allen getting a P45
classic Allen yesterday whilst watching from on-board camera in hamilton's car

"i don't know what position Hamilton is at the moment, we'll have to see where is on the track and look for other cars"

whilst car number, driver name and current grid position are clearly displayed in bottom left of TV screen.........

now i'm not sure if they see the same images we do but i remember Brundle saying that they do a couple of races ago......

It's flying in the face of reality to belive that the add breaks during GP's don't sell anything. It's also pie in the sky to belive that ITV would TX on any of their digi channels without ads. You want to watch GP without adds it's pay per view, either at the cinema or TV. Ads are why ITV do what they do. The programmes are secondary to the money making and we viewers are just consumers.
Not convinced mate. Sorry. I just want the bloody ads over ASAP. Never seen one that could sell me anything or make me stop watching the race in order to get me to phone or go on line. Mate , for a lot of serious F1 fans , the ads are just wallpaper. Expensive wallpaper. EG Why run a Bridgestone ad? I can find out more about Bridgestone tyres from watching the bloody race..And why waste money on Sponsorship when both your Honda cars have just retired ? The sponsorship 10second clips suck. If Honda want us to believe they're interested in racing they could show a little empathy and run a strip under the picture. And why repeat the same clip over and over and over ? Someone on ITV had added up the amount of laps lead by Hamilton this season..funny how no one there has calculated the amount of laps missed by the viewers due to ads.

can someone tell me why ITV have to advertise them selfs after the Honda sponsorship has finished, surely they could ditch that. i know it only lasts about 5 seconds but i find that really annoying.

What pisses me off is that F1 is already amongst the worlds most high profile advertising forums there is. The cars, drivers and circuits are covered in adverts already, and the cars and teams are mostly manufacturers whose cars we might well buy, especialyl if they do well on track! The programme is brought to us by Honda, so for God's sake why can't we watch this hour long multi-brand commercial uninterupted by adverts for Daz or the local carpet warehouse.

That said, I do laugh when you see things like a struggling BMW break down on lap 3, then cut to commercial and see an advert hailing the new 318 as "the ultimate driving machine."

I watched one GP in Spain this year, and the racing was still shown as a PIP during the ads. Couldnt ITV do something similar?

Don't get me wrong, I wish the racing was back on the Beeb, but the central point, which goes to any programme on a commercial channel, there is no such thing as free to air. So who pays, the advertisers and we the viewer with the break in coverage. Because if advertising didn't work ITV would just be showing a Test Card.
The problem is advertising works. If it didn't ITV would have gone bust many years ago. How else would they make money to make the programmes? Companies have very straightforward ways of seeing the effect an add campaign has on sales. If an add is not working it's pulled pretty dam quick.
I share your annoyance at the ad breaks in FI, but as long as ITV have the contract, ads will be a part of the coverage. The ads money goes to the channel, the Honda bumpers are paying for the coverage, by direct monies to the ITV F1 production costs. Same as happened with production sponsership during the Rugby World Cup. In both cases none of that money goes to the sport, be it Rugby or F1. That's the price we all pay to watch major sport on ITV or Sky. Sky have Ford all over the live soccer coverage. The BBC have stated many times they don't want F1 back, too much money for the contract. So it's a long term slide into US style coverage. By the way no one at ITV added up any laps by Lewis or anyone else, that came from the central results banks who supply all the graphics seen on screen during the race. ITV just decide when to use them, chosen from the previews.

It's not only the ads that annoy, at least you can go and make a cuppa. I find worse the build up with bull***t scenes and repetitive "snappy" intros ITV foist on us constantly, most of which bear no relationship to whats actually happening. It's cheap to do I guess and fills the time.

I blame ITV for putting the mockers on Lewis, talk about hype before the race.

Compare BBC's MotoGP coverage which is more informative low key and interesting to watch!

Rant over, phew
