Caught cheating (?) confused
Pretty difficult to pin that solely on him IF it was cheating

Poor handling of team and World champ punch
How did he handle it poorly?? Alonso acted like a child and Ron just ignored him and carried on giving him the best equipment for him to do his job.

Mess up Lewis' race in China - admitted :paperbag
Ron doesnt make strategy decisions. He will always take on the public blame for the team but the real people at fault in that were Lewis' engineers.

Didn't give Hamilton the correct pre-rac pep-talk? [Lewis' race start reminded me of Gazza in the '91 Cup Final, fizzing with aggression and ending up on a stretcher nuts
I doubt Ron said much to Lewis at all. Lewis knew what he needed to do, he had a lot of advice from a lot of people. At the end of the day whatever people say to him its still down to Lewis as the driver to get the job done.

Everything in the bag weeks ago and totally allowed to slip through their (his?) fingers. If I was in charge of Mercedes or a big McLaren sponsor I would now be asking some very awkward questions (regardless of FIA bias real or imagined). eek
It was never 'in the bag'. The teams shortfalls cant be pinned on Ron. He didnt make Hamilton drive into the gravel and he didnt cause his gearbox trouble. Ron has a lot of experience in these situations and I'm sure he would be one of the first to admit whilst theres an chance someone else can win you cannot afford mistakes. Its racing and shit happens...

I think you should look more at what Ron HAS done this season. He led his team through arguably there hardest season to date and went into the final race with both his drivers potential world champions. No other team principle had as much to worry about away from the track and yet they were still the strongest overall team all season.

This season has been the best (results wise) for a long time. Why would Ron want to leave HIS team???
He may be the boss but it's not HIS team! Anyway regardless of all your comments(excuses) I thought it was generally accepted that the CEO carried the can if things go belly up!? Isn't that what top men earn the big bucks for - knowing what's going on and taking responsibility?
Anyway may all be immaterial if BMW have been idiots with the fuel and get disqualified - FIA digging Ron out for a change?
What a way to decide a F1 World Championship.

Ok, so on paper its not his team but in reality he's the man that got Mclaren where they are and its been his life for many years.
I just dont see what grounds there would be to get rid of him...? The team have been there most competitve for years and came within 1 point of the driver championship and would have won the constructors had it not be for Cocklan.

Motorsport tends not to follow 'generally accepted' rules of business. If everytime a team made mistakes the top man stepped down then there would be a serious amount of unemployment in the sport! What, from my experience, makes a succesful racing team is solid and consistant management - I've worked for teams that have this and others that dont, the ones that do always tend to be at the sharp end of the grid and I dont think thats a coincidence!!

Still, doesn't flemke own just over 50% of a Mclaren? I can't imagine he has sleepless nights trying to find sponsors or an alternative engine supplier for that matter.
15% now.
Agreed to the rest.
Shock news Jean Todt offers flemke an alternative engine for his Mclaren.......in the shape of an Enzo

As long as he shows allegiance to Ferrari next season
