The hypocrisy of Montezemolo
Discussion
That was how it was during Enzo's rein, before FIAT bought the company, Enzo initially started to sell road cars to fund the racing effort. They will run as seperate comercial entities now, with the marketing benefit from the F1 team helping the road car image.

I assume Ferrari is in F1 ultimately to help sell road cars, therefore i am surprised at how childish and vindictive their top man is. Does he not realize that his behaviour may turn some people off the idea of buying a Ferrari, it certainly has turned me off.
I have admired Ferrari since i was a child but now i am in a position to afford one i find myself not wanting to belong to that crowd. This is a direct result of how they prostitute their name to cheap products and how Montezemolo and some of his team behave.
I always thought it was the other way round - Ferrari sell road cars at massively inflated prices to subsidise their F1 efforts?I have admired Ferrari since i was a child but now i am in a position to afford one i find myself not wanting to belong to that crowd. Then they sold out to Fiat and began to rely on a subsidy from the top.
Things began to turn in the '80s, when Fiat's fortunes turned down and the Ferrari road car business itself was poor.
There was a long period when, year after year, Ferrari's road car business lost money, although I don't know whether that was after taking account of money moved from road car business to racing.
Nowadays F. road cars are making money, and that gets swept into the racing business.
The way that they run it nowadays, effectively the net racing expense is the road car's advertising budget, and the profit from the road cars in turn helps pay for the racing.

That ignores the fact that Alonso was one of three McLaren employees who were shown to be doing the cheating. That's where the hypocrisy lies.
And also assumes that every information exchange between the two implicated engineers was one way? Does anyone else find that hard to beleive? Two guys who plotted to move to Honda for £millions and who were having regular phone/email/SMS conversation, and only Ferrari data ended up at MacLaren and on the other way around......
