Hi, I am a university student, and am doing a module called motorsport investigation, for which I have to choose a racing formula and follow its rules, history, technical difficulties, safety restrains, etc (what you would expect from an engineering point of view) with soem info on the financial side of things, like sponsorships, costs, insurances, permits, etc.

I chose Britcar as some of you might now.
I was a fuelling marshal at the Britcar 24 (2007), and was also invited in the garage of CHAD Racing who were very helpful and gave me lots of direct info.
I would like to thank Steve W. in case he reads this as he helped me out a lot.

I was also a spectator at the BrandsHatch event (before this) and camped at the circuit, and once again, over there I met up with some teams and got some very useful insight, in particular thanks to Butler Motorsport.

As always, no matter how much info you gather some if it is mildly forgotten, and other things you forgot to ask. Hence I am hoping people can help me out here with the stuff I forgot to ask at the events.

The field I am seriously lacking info in is - the History of this racing category - how did it come to be?
Was a 24hr race the target which then caused a championship to exist, or the other way round, a championship existed and a 24hr was dreamt of later on?

Please note, I am not interested in just the official story and 'nice' version of things, if there is cruder and perhaps less politicly correct story of how these things went, I would appreciate them. So for example if someone thinks it came about as a category for whoever had money to race, and that the rules and classes are 'flexible' rules - I would appreciate such a reply as well (without currently implying that it is so, as I don't know yet).

Also, I don't know how important it is to keep you opinion private. So if you would like to send me some info directly - please e-mail me at nadir.syedsammut@live.uwe.ac.uk

Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards,
NDR

ps Any racing engineering company out there - I am on the hunt for a placement year :P

Nadir, it was a pleasure to have you along at Silverstone. If you want the history of the EERC, then you can get the official story from me. If it's crude and poltically incorrect that you want, then look no further than this forum. Hopefully, some of the crudest have already responded privately to your request.

You might want to talk to some of the earliest supporters of the series, teams like Topcats Racing and Daniels Motorsport, drivers like Calum Lockie (who runs Gold Track Driving Club)and Jeff Wyatt. A man with your wherewithal should be able to find contact details for them on the net.

See you at Brands on Nov 10th?

I will try and make it, though I am somewhat angry at the Brands admisitration. A weekend ticket I ordered online didn't arrive at me in time. I had to re-pay at the gate. And my only request when I sent all the tickets back for a refund (as they asked me to do), is to send me back the tickets I purchased online (as I like to keep the tickets of every race I visit).

But they couldn't even do that for me...

OK - James's "Do you know who I am" statement!?? Doesn't he know who he is? Has he lost his mind so much that he has to ask people who he is? I think we should sew a label in all his clothes with his name on it just to remind him!

Love you really Jimbo !

Its "Don't you know who I am?" and its a question rather than a statement. He knows who he is, he wants to know if other people know who he is.

Hi, I need to reference something Terry (from Butler Motorsports) said to me, I was hoping someone could remind me his surname please?

Thanks.
