Brilliant - in what must have been a 2 minute interview. I especially like the "but let's not forget" bit in the last quote ; )
Remind me - did he come from GP2 and finish second in the championship?

" if you think about it, coming from GP2, who would have thought I'd be ranked number two in my first year of Formula 1."
"I've come from GP2 and now I am ranked number two in the world which is positive. I really can't wait for next year. I know we can do a better job. "
" I finished second in the World Championship, I beat my team mate, under extremely difficult circumstances I beat the two time World Champion, that was the goal a the beginning so that's a great result."
"but let's not forget it's been an incredible season for me and to come into my first season in Formula 1 and finish a rank number two. I'm the number two driver in the world, that's - that's pretty awesome "

Within the context of the interview it all reads perfectly well. I'm not an automatic fan of Lewis, nor an automatic detractor; I don't go in for hero worship or its opposite. From a neutral reading, if anyone really objects to what he said there, it says far more about your preconceptions and prejudices than it says about him.

Lots of people say his modest, so some of us like to point out his "special" modesty, not really an "ojection"stew-S160 said:

his car will wera #3 though.
Nope. Next year his car number will be 22.his car will wera #3 though.
Remember, McLaren have been excluded, and the car numbers are allocated in the order that the finished the Constructors championship (with the exception of the No. 1 which follows the world champion no matter which constructor wins), so the numbers for 2008 will be allocated as follows:
Ferrari: 1, 2
BMW: 3, 4
Renault: 5, 6
Williams: 7, 8
Red Bull: 9, 10
Toyota: 11, 12
Toro Rosso: 14, 15
Honda: 16, 17
Super Aguri: 18, 19
Force India: 20, 21
McLaren: 22, 23 (unless Prodrive get in, in which case they will have 22 and 23, and McLaren will have 24 and 25)

and Mansell always drove red #5 / 6 for williams

I thought is was before 1995 - didn't Hill wear number 0 on his car because Mansell left F1 after winning the 1992 championship?
Hill had number 0 in 1993 and 1994 as in 1992 and 1993 the reigning world champion had elected to retire from F1. Mansell ran with red 2 when he replaced David Coulthard for his four "comeback" races in 1994. In the second of his two disastrous outings for McLaren in 1995, Mansell has a small red 5 on the airbox next to his name, even though the car ran with number 7.
I am amazed how people try to have a go at the guy
I am not a particular fan, have never really been that bothered about F1 since Senna died, but he did come from GP2 and finished No2, and if I was in his shoes I would be singing it from the rooftops.
If anyone on here had achieved the same I am sure they would as well.
If you want modest find a vicar, if you want total self belief, verging on arrogance find a top class racing driver

Exactly, that about sums it up......I am not a particular fan, have never really been that bothered about F1 since Senna died, but he did come from GP2 and finished No2, and if I was in his shoes I would be singing it from the rooftops.
