Ok, I'll admit flemke's absolute loathing of Montezemolo has somewhat influenced my thoughts towards him, and the commentary about McLaren last week firmly tipped me into the 'dislike' camp, but does this interview rub anyone else up in the wrong way?

http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=4119...

Why does he feel the need to highlight that he was "personally responsible" for Massa's renewal, and why does he have to bring money into the following quote:

“I will give him a present, not money because that is already agreed in the contract, but a gift.”

It just seems all extremely crude for a man of his position. Even the picture on the ITV article makes him look like a sleaze-ball.

I was a big Schumacher fan, and I'm glad Kimi took the title instead of Alonso but next season my weight will firmly be behind McLaren for the first time in 8 or so years.

I had no real opinion on him one way or the other until his recent comment that Hamilton would have a lot to thank Ferrari for if he won the championship (because of all the Ferrari know-how that, er, wasn't built into his car). This just showed him to be as big a tw@t as the rest of them. I'm sure the net result of the spy scandal is actually a reduction in support for Ferrari and an increase for McLaren. With any big organisation, the ethics and values tend to flow down from the top level of management. This year has shown that Ferrari's have hit a new low, for which Luca must take much of the credit!

because most people believe that it was todt got the contract with massa extended and luca doesn't want to appear to have been screwed by todt.

I can't help thinking that he needs to say he was the mover and shaker in the Massa contract because he wasn't. He protests too much to be convincing. Todt and Todt junior seem the most likely to have colluded in this contract.

This is the guy who was giving Kimi a hard time when he was trying to get his head around a new team and tyres. The only guy who spoke up for Kimi was Ron .
Make no mistake with his remarks about Lewis, If macs had been banned ,Monty would have been the first one calling Lewis up and Bye Bye Felipe.
Grade A XXXX.

And this is the same guy that Mad Max Mosley is proud to say he has a long standing personal relationship with.

Well I never.

But Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo is known to be a fan of Alonso, and said after the conclusion to the championship last month: "Alonso is world-class in every sense.

"I have appreciated very much his sportsmanship. He lost by one point and I believe it wasn't his fault."

Anyone with a memory of him would tell you that Enzo Ferrari wouldn't have been any less hard on Raikkonen than Montezemelo was. In fact Enzo would probably have fired his ass by mid season based ont he results he produced up to that point.
