Looks like Renault are about to confirm Alonso and Piquet
but you can bet Alonso is there on a 1 year deal before moving to Ferrari in 2009
The Mexican company Telmex is the new big sponsor for Renault (apparently)

So I guess by default Kovalainen is going to Mclaren (is there anyone else on the market place ? )

McLaren won't be announcing anything shortly. I would have thought they are looking more like Back end of december before they announce anything.

Renault line up sounds possible though. BTW where's this info from?

I'd think Mclaren would want a driver in place for testing (starts in a few weeks ? )
It's from f1-live.com - nothing official but sounds like what everyone's been thinking

Ralf Schumacher? hehe

I think Heiki is the most likely candidate, especially if Alonso displaces him at Renault. Lewis V Heiki is an interesting prospect too cool

who manages Heiki ?

Alonso's going to take a huge amount of data to Renault - just wondering how much useful data Heiki can bring to Mclaren
what we need is some disgruntled employee - duh !

Briatore manages Heiki IRRC. Not sure he would be happy sending his latest young gun to his arch rival to make way for Alonso or not?

And don't start all that business again! hehe

I can't imagine Piquet's dad getting on with Alonso.

I think FA is on a 2 year deal but if Renault cant give him a winning car then he is free to go in 2009, I think BMW have a better chance than Ferrari.

I agree. Can't see Alonso going to Ferrari whilst Kimi is still there (how long is Kimi contracted?)

Meh. Niki Lauda anyone? Mansell?

Its not very likely though yes biggrin

I'd love to see him back though.

And he does still have some involvement with McLaren.....

I can't see Lauda coming back with a McLaren drive for next year tbh. That John Surtees has been putting himself about a bit lately mind you..

And you just know if anyone offered Mansell a drive he'd be back in a flash, regardless of his age and physical condition, gawd luv 'im.

Ahr, but does this mean that the Renault will have to have their car inspected as well to ensure that nothing that could stop Ferrari winning again (like and engine) is in the design...
