Am I the only one who finds James Allen's presenting of F1 increasingly unbearable? Imagine if we didn't have Brundle alongside, and at least Lewis Hamilton's driving to admire.
Personally I find his efforts to 'work' the viewers toe curlingly embarrassing. It's all a bit boyish/amateurish/anoraky. Even if he has/had something valid to say I couldn't bear listening to him anymore.
Did I hear someone referring to him as 'the cock' or something? Very apt.
I assume he's out of a job at the end of the year. Hopefully he'll go do something else and some new bods will say it like it is on BBC (for once something worthwhile those Guardian reading cretins are doing with the license fee).

OK - what I'm saying is that although I've hated his style for many a year, Sunday was the straw that broke the camel's back. I just can't take it any more! sob!
Maybe controversial, but I quite like Damon Hill's input when he gets a chance.

I watched the Friday 1hr 30 min afternoon practice session from Valencia on the web. It was ace! No commentary at all. Would've been nice to have had a bit of insight from Brundle, but honestly didn't miss it one bit.

Don't worry, he'll be too busy chasing girls around the paddock to make it to the commentary box in time for the race.

A classic JA moment during the final moments of qually ..

"Does Massa get poll

NO

..

..

..

ER

Yes - poll for Massa "

Then on the highlights of Qually on the Sunday GP they had re-dubbed his faux-par out..

What a 2@.

I'm particularly grateful to James Allen for his habit of reading out press releases during the race, e.g. informing us how wonderful a city Valencia is and how it wasn't a terrific mistake to host a Grand Prix here, or letting us know just how many Ferraris were sold in our host country this year.

I don't actually mind him that much, I'm no F1 connoisseur and I need someone to spell out the the lower level rules/regulations in black and white. He does get a tad excited and annoying but doesn't everyone? Besides, after Murray we were never going to be happy with anyone

But Damon's silent pauses, "uhms" and "ahs" made James Allen look like a saint.

Shows you how hard commentating is.

Admittedly James isn't the best there are other commentators who could do better but he does a good job all round.

Which commentator is flawless and doesn't make mistakes?

I was in Valencia last weekend, and it was an absolute delight to watch the race without 'Allen' annoying me every two minutes!

Jeez! Get over it guys. He's only the third or fourth worst part of ITV's coverage.

What about Davidson? He comes over well and is informative - that is if he does not get a drive next season.

I think despite the anti-DC above, he has relaxed so much since the MacClaren days (I disliked him then) and is now a top bloke in his current team.

Without having to toe any company line I reckon DC would be hilarious if given free rein in the commentary box.

Cracker from the Cock in Valencia, commenting on the G-gorces that hamilton was enduring "look at that, 5Gs when he hits the brakes, the force pushing his head and body into his seat" Does Lewis have a rear facing seat?

It was interesting to watch the Valencia qualifying back on video on Saturday night. As Massa goes for the line on his pole lap Allen is stratospheric as usual... "Is Massa going to beat Hamilton's time.. NOOOO !!!.... YESSS !!!"

Conveniently this entire piece of commentary was re-recorded when it was replayed on Sunday's race programme.

Conclusion : Even ITV know he's a cock.
