James Allen: makes it unwatchable.

Cracker from the Cock in Valencia, commenting on the G-gorces that hamilton was enduring "look at that, 5Gs when he hits the brakes, the force pushing his head and body into his seat" Does Lewis have a rear facing seat?
Yeah, I caught that one too - at a time when Tilke is systematically ruining F1 through his circuit design we need some entertainment, and James Allen isn't it. A funny tale, I recently emigrated to Australia, and sat down in front of the TV to watch channel 10 High Def, getting ready for a full grand prix without the cock.
I would add, the coverage is nothing like ITV with a pre show, they are staight into the warm up lap, and were off.
Anyway, there I am, and the commentry started with two australians, and the next words are, 'and we now pass over to the ITV team for the race' Nooooooooooo the cock is on Australian TV too.!!!!!

I know F1 is dull now but the whole ITV are so dull and boring, even Martin Brundle sounds like he's on the verge of a breakdown. You'd think ITV would ditch half of the team to save a bit cash. The BBC need an exciting commentry team like MotoGP on Eurosport, Toby Julian & Randy always get me hyped. Thats why Murry was so good - he was passionate. WTCC is pretty good and BTCC isn't all that bad on ITV4 either.

Murray might have been passionate ---but imho he was a crap commentator.
he made pleny of mistakes but thats forgivable when you're enthusiastic imho. christ, the current lineup don't know they're born. dull as dishwater they are. on the other hand damon is dull and full of ums and ahs but his insight was worth a million times what the whole itv team bring. give me murray any day - i've got the tv feed and live timing too. anyway the motogp guys are out of a job come the end of the season...I think the haters should all post their own commentaries on youtube and see who sounds a cock then
I'm not a fan but seriously it can't be an easy job, there arnt than many bearable commnentators in sport. He makes mistakes but is quite informative. I think he tries too hard to replace murray.

Maybe I read him wrong, but Coulthard seems to have an exceptionally high opinion...of himself. Never a very palatable quality in a media presenter whose job is to help the show to be the star. One more of his wise-ass comments to Louise Goodman or Suzy Perry and I think I'll puke.
Hill may not be as smooth as Coulthard, but he's a hell of a lot more humble, notwithstanding that it is DH, not DC, who owns a World Drivers Championship. Also, Damon has conducted himself with forthrightness and dignity since he became BRDC President.
I think they best commentary I've ever heard was a few Motogp's ago, I think at Sachsenring, on Eurosport.
Julian and Toby were their normal, enthusiastic selves, when Rossi popped in, and joined them commentating on the 125 race. I know it was a one-off, but when you hear Rossi sucking in his breath at some of the moves, you know how hard the riders are trying.

Why should we do that? We're not professional commentators. James "the cock" Allen is supposed to be a top professional, so we are entitled to expect him to be on the ball.I'm not a fan but seriously it can't be an easy job, there arnt than many bearable commnentators in sport. I would be a ste commentator, so I do something I'm good at for a living instead.

"Yes! the Spantard's crashed! "
"Cheating bd Red/Silver team!"
etc
If the BBC are in any doubt they don't need to look far for evidence:

Despite his long run as ITV's lead commentator, Allen is unpopular with some viewers, and has been the subject of petitions calling for his removal. Satirical motoring website Sniff Petrol ran a campaign to have Allen removed from the commentary box, titled "Stop The Cock", even producing merchandise to support it.[2][3] A similar Facebook group had over 1500 members as of August 2008.[4] It has been suggested on Sniff Petrol that 'the cock has been stopped', assuming when F1 moves to the BBC in 2009 that James Allen is left behind.
Looks like we might find out something when the Italian GP comes around in a few weeks:
the PitPass website said:
According to rumour David Croft, Ben Edwards and Jonathan Legard lead the way, with Pitpass sources adamant that Legard - a BBC stalwart - has taken over from Croft as favourite to land the prize role.
While Steve Ryder, James Allen and Louise Goodman are not part of the BBC's plans it is hoped that the British broadcaster has not overlooked Ted Kravitz who has done a sterling job as pitlane reporter for ITV since 2002.
The Englishman has a reputation for getting the facts and keeping his head under difficult conditions, when all about him appear to be losing theirs, a typical example being Indianapolis 2005, when, courtesy of some excellent digging around, Kravitz was one of the first journalists to seriously cast doubt on whether the United States Grand Prix would go ahead.
As for the ubiquitous role of F1 pundit, while there is no news regarding Martin Brundle retaining his position, many believe that David Coulthard would be a welcome addition to the team, partly due to his no nonsense non-PC approach, and partly due to the fact that he has hands on experience of contemporary F1 machinery.
It's believed that the BBC will announce further details of its plans around the time of the forthcoming Italian GP weekend.
ps sorry for quoting a whole story but I found the Ted Kravitz bit amusing..While Steve Ryder, James Allen and Louise Goodman are not part of the BBC's plans it is hoped that the British broadcaster has not overlooked Ted Kravitz who has done a sterling job as pitlane reporter for ITV since 2002.
