The camera is actually a little higher than eye-level. You can tell by the view in the mirrors: they mostly reflect the ground, rather than behind the car. Nevertheless, a very good impression of what a driver would see from the cockpit.

Hi guys,

I thought you might appreciate one of the highlights of F1 cut & paste from another PH forum, topping Senna winning the May 12 1984 opening of the new Nurburgring GP track, coincided with the launch of the Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 in an incredible grid with all the greats in the fab Mercs.

A bit of a timewaster as I sampled the complete '84 Monaco GP from YT to compose my post:

Senna was a rookie and in a 2nd class car doing a hero performance in appalling circumstances. You've got to give Senna some credit.

Bellof made full advantage of the situation but: ". . . results were erased later in the season due to weight infringements." Still an ace show (his 6th GP ffs), look at him passing Lafitte. The Arnoux chase is a riot!

And how good was Mansell in this race: stunning! Shame about him touching the armco. Hist first time leading and losing it in such a way . . .

Faultless race for Prost - at the time I found him a bit boring to watch. Hands down one of the all time greatest.

Senna eating seconds every lap was amazing at the time. Some 1st podium!
Those were the days and for me they are cherished 80s memories.
