You haven't been paying attention have you? to cut a long story short, yes bullies180 said:
If you have something that helps like that then you would be pretty stupid not to use it to help you get to where you want to go
There is a cast iron example of where it's all gone wrong. A driver, who is essentially st, using an established name with some stty excuse about it being a cultural thing to get an undeserved leg up.Tyranosawus said:

11 wins 1 championship, thats pretty crap, but then jenson is even worse, what 7 wins 1 championship, proper rubbish, and what about massa and vettel, they've never won a championship, they should be sacked for being utterly useless morons!
It's not all about what you do it's as much about how you do it. Sir Stirling Moss is rightly regarded as one of the all time greats and he never won the WDC, for example. The current crop of drivers are the worst shower of st (with 2 exceptions) there has been for many generations. The last 2 races at "proper" circuits have proved that.Edited by Careless on Wednesday 21st October 04:28

Had you ever heard of him before 2007?
And you think the Ayrton Senna, Jim Clarke, Jackie Stewart and co all had jobs on the side to pay for their drives? Sponsorship has been part of motorsport since they realised if they wanted to earn a living they had to become mobile billboards. How would you suggest they get paid?
Unfortunately, I've known of Lewis since he was 9 years old (karting stuff). I've never rated him all that highly, Frazer Sheader was better IMO. The whole sponsorship in motorsport thing is a rum deal in my book, it's a load of old bks all started by Gold leaf / Lotus. And you think the Ayrton Senna, Jim Clarke, Jackie Stewart and co all had jobs on the side to pay for their drives? And Hamilton wasn't exactly beaten by Alonso was he in his rookie year
And Vettel/Kubica/Raikonnen/Massa/Rosberg/Button would be +/- 1/10ths or 2/10ths of Hamiltons time in the same car.
And comparing generations of drivers is slightly difficult
So be a nice troll and

Dare i ask for you opinion of hamilton's qualy lap at canada 08, youtube it if you have to. Great driving!
IMO it was wreckless risk taking with a huge dollop of good luck.Wreckless risk taking is not the same as skillful driving. It's a fine line and the true quality drivers know the difference.

(or was that entirely down to team favouritism?)
Got it one . Fernando was the reigning WDC. He, quite rightly, got the right royal hump with Mclaren over the preferential treatment bestowed upon the yellow hatted one. The rest, as they say, is history.Tyranosawus said:

So no fan of Gilles Villeneuve then?
One of my all time fave drivers. He was mental, but could just about keep a lid on it enough most of the time. Controlled lunacy that's what it's all about. He sometimes lost it and crossed the line but that was what made him who he was. I'd like to see any of the current crop drive a dangerous tin cup full of fuel with st brakes like that.Tyranosawus said in another thread
'If I make it through a whole GP without falling into a boredom induced coma, then yes, if not then no.'
So why bother then. if it is of that little interest to you.
I take it you were in a coma during the Brazilian GP by the comments you have made, and most of the rest of the season to.
