All the great world champs have had to prove themselves in a crap car, then they were rewarded with a seat in the best car / team to win the championship. Hamilton was put in the best car / team without earning it (I just can't work out why that happened). Even with the best car he still managed to lose at the first attempt and only got the world championship because of some sttery from his bestest buddy. At the beginning of this year he had a ste car and guess what, he couldn't drive a slippery stick up a donkeys arse. He's a complete fraud who should stick to promoting a tacky line of clothing at M&S. I don't like him very much as you can tell
Dude you do realise that all of the above is complete rubbish! There is no rule that you have to "earn" your drive in that sense. What makes you think that Ron and Martin didn't feel he earned it in GP2? Maybe they just wanted to take a chance, and do you know what happened, they got a straight flush! Put your hatred asside, its not healthy! And you dont think Lewis Hamilton has helped F1?!?!?

Put your hatred asside, its not healthy!I can't honestly believe that you believe that Ron Dennis would have put him in the car without assessing his talents, that would just be crazy, but if as you say they did well they got it right, RD was in two minds to go with lewis and i bet he just flipped a coin, bit like with senna's negotiations. He nearly won in his first year, granted china was a fk up, but due to both driver and team and also IIRC bridgestone as they say the tires would last. As for brazil 07, well that one wasn't so clear, car malfunction or lewis hitting a button he shouldn't have, don't know. If it was lewis hitting a wrong button well thats forgiveable seeing as he was a rookie. He delivered in 08 end of! I know you can argue 08, glock, singapore, spa etc but at the end of the day the title is in his name and thats what mclaren want. All of this means he is a success for mclaren, and he's fast which has been proven countless times!

You should try not to let your bigotry get in the way of you making a sensible comment on Pistonheads, else you just come over as an idiot. sirtyro said:
So if he didnt earn it are you saying he paid for his drive in his first season?
And you dont think Lewis Hamilton has helped F1?!?!?
Yes he effectively payed (via his sponsors) for his first season. He wasn't a complete bunch of arse as a driver, but there were equally talented drivers about IMO. The DTM championship winning driver Gary Paffet for example, who didn't get a look in because of a financial bias. And you dont think Lewis Hamilton has helped F1?!?!?
Personaly i think "sponsors darlings" like Lewis are seriously screwing F1 up not helping. I guess it's raised the profile of F1, but it's sold the last fraction of it's soul to the devil in my book.

And you think the Ayrton Senna, Jim Clarke, Jackie Stewart and co all had jobs on the side to pay for their drives? Sponsorship has been part of motorsport since they realised if they wanted to earn a living they had to become mobile billboards. How would you suggest they get paid?

Unfortunately, I've known of Lewis since he was 9 years old (karting stuff). I've never rated him all that highly, Frazer Sheader was better IMO. The whole sponsorship in motorsport thing is a rum deal in my book, it's a load of old bks all started by Gold leaf / Lotus. And you think the Ayrton Senna, Jim Clarke, Jackie Stewart and co all had jobs on the side to pay for their drives? Well he must despise Bruno Senna with a passion, not only has he sponsors, but a lot because of his uncle's name
As a matter of fact I haven't got a lot of time for Bruno Lalli. He's crap and he's trading on the great name of his uncle. That's a whole different story though.Tyranosawus said:

Thought so, i have no opinion of him myself, but if he makes it so be it. as for sponsorship, well it funds the sport so a neccesary thing realy.
You have to remember there is a cultural portugese thing going on with the Senna name being adopted from the same part of the family that Ayrton (Da Silva) adopted. It's the underlying reason for Bruno doing it I don't like (trading on the name)Tyranosawus said:
